| ASM vs. POR? We are palnning a trip to the World for this Dec (6-14) for my family of 5. We too are facing the family of 5 dilemma, but we have narrowed it down to the Fam suites at ASM or POR w/ trundle bed. I would love to hear anyone's opinion on these 2 choices! Originally we were hoping to stay at AKL, but for a fam of 5 it is out of our budget. I just saw someone post on another thread that you can rent DVC points, and that the cost is somewhat less. Can anyone give me any info? And about how much savings are we talking about? Thanks!!! |

| I feel your family of 5 pain. I've stayed at ASM before and it's alright. The rooms were clean but there were tons of teenagers there (some kind of dance competition I believe?) anyway, a friend of mine told me about POR and we'll be staying there in May. The reviews I've read have all been positive and my friend assures me that once I stay there I will never want to stay anywhere else again. I hope she's right and good luck on your decision making!!

| I would vote for ASM, just to have more room to spread out.

| I have stayed at both and liked both, There is more room at the family suites but they are also more expensive. Be advised that the time you are at WDW is usually the time of the Pop Warner Superbowl and cheerleading competition. These kids are everywhere at the AllStars. For this reason, I wouldl pick POR.

| I would suggest comparing the room size and choose whichever is larger if the cost is relatively the same. I have stayed at both resorts and like them both. One advantage of POR is that you can take the boat to downtown disney and that's always fun.

| I would go with POR. Good luck with finding out about renting DVC points. Maybe try a separate post about DVC rentals, lots of people here know about them.

| We just did our first trip to WDW and we stayed at POR and we are a family of 5. I am sad to say we did not have a wonderful experience at this hotel. But if you decide to stay there just give you a helpful tip bring an extension cord for the coffee pot. If you have a small table to place by the sink it would be great for the things u would use every day.

| At ASMu you would have the luxury of two bathrooms and more space, but you may encounter large groups of teenagers like we did when we went to ASMo. They were a real nuisance and the CM's do nothing at all to control them. If you just need a space to shower and sleep, then it should be fine. (Tip: request a room AWAY from the pool) Otherwise, I'd take the step up to a moderate which is about the same price, or check out a room at the Contemporary in the garden wing. (We loved it there!)

| I have never stayed at either resort so I can't comment that way but I think you are going down during Pop Warner week which meean large groups of kids. I would think they would be at the Values and if they are I would vote for POR. I stayed at POFQ once and we walked over to POR and rented sea raycers and POR looked like a great resort. |

| We are a family of six with the youngest being two. So this past Thanksgiving we booked POR Riverside with the trundle bed. It's a nice hotel, but my kids really liked Pop Century best. And one room for that many people is cramped even if you do spend most of your time at the parks. If you go that route, I'm sure you'll be happy.......but for our next coming trip we are booked for AS Movies with two conjoining rooms. I think this will suite our family better.
