Help! Old Key West or Saratoga Springs?

We are going to DW! First time since 2004. There will be 4 families and lots of kids, so we are getting villas. The price is the same for Old Key West and Saratoga Springs. So, can you tell me what your opinion is of the two? Which should we choose?

I like the villas at OKW best because they have more actual beds rather than sofa beds.

I know OKW is a little older and tired but I just find it prettier with the trees and the lakes and the golf course and a little quieter.

SS is wonderful and obviously newer and of course has the spa and a better food court in the morning, but then OKW has Olivias, yeah I'm starting to see your dilemma right now.

You can get a boat or walk to DTD from SS - you can get a boat from OKW to DTD ummmm I'm so not helping you right now.

If you're going to be in a Grand Villa then I have to go with OKW because they are a lot bigger than the Grands at SS.

I sorta helped

They're both great resorts, but we prefer Old Key West, because the rooms are bigger there.

The villa's at OKW are much larger. If you are driving a car, OKW parking is better because you can park right in front of your door,(helps with loading and unloading suitcases) . We love Turtle Pond and Olivia's at OKW.

The room size is a big difference between the two resorts. As said, OKW has bigger rooms. The most noticeably difference in the Studios. You have 2 actual beds at OKW and only 1 bed and sleeper sofa at SSR. Kids don't usually mind the sleeper sofa, but some adults love it and others absolutely hate it.

Another thing I about OKW is the outdoor porches. We've had some perfect porches! It really feels like you're relaxing in your own back yard. And the porch is just one example of a more at home feeling. The layout of the villas is much more personal and not a mass building with rooms.

SSR is newer and smaller. But the quiet pools are to die for! I going in the morning chilling in the pool, relaxing in the hot tub. A hot tub at the quiet pool! Perfect!

So as you can tell, both resorts have their touch of magic! Have fun deciding!

I've been to both and for the us the best one is Saratoga Springs! Everything is new and up to date and if you pockets can afford it I would tell you to go for the 3 bedroom villa, it's beautiful. Just remember which ever you choose, rqst a room either near the water taxi, pool or lobby.

Hope this helps!

I agree!
Remember, the DVC used to be called "Home Away From Home" Resorts and I think OKW definetly captures that feeling the most of all of them!

Plus, as others said OKW has much bigger Villas.

If they are the same price I say go with OKW

We are staying at Saratoga. Our TA has stayed at both and said that SS is nicer than OKW. Good Luck with your decision!
