Bay Lake Tower is for DVC members only?

BLT is now open, right? Is it for DVC members only or can the rest of us unfortunate guests reserve there? Are all the rooms suites with a mini kitchen? Do you request BLT when you book or is there a chance of being assigned there when you book CR?

Sorry to go on and on. Just clueless.

You could rent DVC points and stay there. I'm not sure if they have released anything to the public yet. I tried to get one night at my 7 month booking window and had no luck, as a DVC member. I'm not sure if this helps or not.

I reserved a week at the BLT in a one bedroom villa paying cash to see if that is the resort we want to buy into the DVC. We are going from May 2,-8, 2010 for our anniversary.

BLT is open to the public. If you go on the WDW website you can book reservations for it. Although I am a DVC Member, I just tried it to see how much my vacation would be without using my points. BLT is listed individually so I this reservations for the Contemporary would not get you a villa there. You have to be specific that you want BLT. Good luck getting your reservation.

We stayed in a studio, and it had a mini-kitchen complete with pantry, microwave, and mini-fridge. The 1+ bedrooms have much larger kitchens complete with dining tables. The nice thing about BLT is that due to its shape, the rooms are differently laid out than most Disney rooms, but they definitely make the most of their space with shelving, and hidden cabinets. For example, the pantry pulls out from the wall on a rolling unit.

You cannot get a reservation at the Contemporary and get "upgraded," or moved over to BLT. Bay Lake Tower is a completely separate resort, and you do have to book for it exclusively. Also, there is an exclusive members-only lounge at the top of the building that you absolutely must be a DVC member, or with a member to visit.

I hope this helps - we just got back from a stay at BLT, and we absolutely loved it there!

I've found (unfortunate for me) you actually have a better chance getting a reservation as a cash customer for the new vacation club locations. I was hoping to book a room even for one night at the tree house villas with our vacation club points with no luck at all.

Good luck, let us know how it goes for you! The BLT location is so incredible

Bookings are open to the public. We're members and we'll be staying there in December and I can't wait.

Thanks for all the clarification! I think if I ever buy into DVC, BLT will be my home. Love it!

yea you can book it - a little more than half is for DVC member points - but still at least 40% can be had for cash.

like all dvc resorts any unrent at 60 days goes to cash.

that say BLT is the most indemand resort that WDW has at present.
