Do you have to have a credit card at check in?

My co workers daughter is heading to the world in a week. She asked me if they can use a debit card at WDW, I dont believe it is a credit card, just a bank card. They have one credit card but they prefer not to use it. What are the policies for check in? And can they use a bank card that does not have credit at the resort or parks? These are questions I couldnt answer! Thanks everyone!

I use my visa check card linked to my checking acct. It doesn't hold a line of credit but withdraws directly from my acct.

I have also used my paypal mastercard/debit. It also doesn't hold a line of credit but withdraws from my paypal acct and checking acct listed above.

She needs to check the hotel policy, though. Some put a hold on a certain amount immediately to make sure money is there when the bill comes through. This can be a problem if you're counting on a midweek payday to pay the bill at checkout. It can also take several days to get the unused hold portion released at the end of the stay.

Your standard debit cards (visa linked to bank) are considered credit cards and accepted where ever a credit card is, so she should be fine. AS LONG AS it has a visa or mastercard logo- use to there were bank/atm cards that had no affiliation with visa or mastercard- this would not work....

I used my VISA check card in order to get the KTTW at check-in and there was never a hold put on my account. Ultimately, if you do not want your charges taken out of the card given at check-in, just go to the front desk the night before you leave and pay off your balance with whatever means you want to. I do that all the time with Disney Gift Cards.

I no longer have credit cards. It is extremely liberating & sometimes a bit fustrating. We were just at WDW in July & Oct. Both times I used my debit cards (I have 2 checking accounts) at both the resort and in the parks with no problems. I should note that both my cards have the visa logo and do say Debit Card or Check Card. The problem I run into is the daliy charge amount. One card is $1200 and the other is $1000.

You can use a debit card (with Visa logo) at the resort. I would not ask for charging priveledges on my KTTW card though (just in case they put a hold on your account). I'd just use the debit card at each location I want to buy something.

No, you can put cash down, a personal check, a debit card, or if you don't want to use the key to the world card at all then you don't need anything.

Absolutely you can use a debit card. Mine is a Mastercard. It just has to have a major logo such as MC or Visa. That's all I ever use. Don't even have a credit card.

Our bank/debit cards will ONLY run as a credit card, with the exception of when they are used at ATM's. Don't have to put in a PIN, just sign and go, it's great.

However, you don't have to use a card at all. We didn't on our last trip, and it worked out fine.

They absolutely do not put a hold on your credit or debit card at check in if you want a KTTW.

We asked this question when we checked into the GF. We were told that none of the resorts put a hold of any amount on your card. They will, however, periodically bill your card any charges. What I mean is, they may not wait ubtil you check out to bill you card. On our trip we noticed they put charges through every three days...but then, I did some serious shopping!

We always use our debit card and we don't have a VISA logo - it's a Mastercard - never had a problem. We link it to our KTTW card - none of the WDW resorts put holds on the cards

We have used my Bank of America debit card (VISA logo) every time to pay anything needing payment at check-in. Our packages are normally fully paid when we arrive, but I will have two days of room-only, and that I will pay with my debit card. We also use the debit card to attach to our KTTW for charging purposes .

The charges are posted to your account all at once a 2-3 days after check-out. We stay below the $500 limit at our resort (limits are higher at moderate & deluxe resorts). If you get close, you can ask them to put the charges through and reup your card limit so you can charge more. A statement is normally hung on your room doorknob the night before you are due to check out. We check our bank balance at least once during our stay to be sure there are no surprises, like a forgotten check coming through. We've never seen a "hold" on any of our accounts from stays at WDW.
