POLY OR CONTEMPORARY?

We are all booked and ready for our jan. 31- feb. 8 trip to Contemporary...Having 2nd thoughts about staying at polynesian instead. We are booked in a garden wing standard view..great price for a deluxe on monrail, witch is why I booked there to begin with... not much price difference between CR and AKL pool/bunk combo we had ORIGINALLY booked(lol). If we booked A poly room, it would be the basic garden view.. anyone have thoughts on this? I would like to stay at both resrts equally as much!!

I think it's a matter of personal preference, and what theming appeals to you more. I really love the Poly! It has that island feel, which I find very relaxing. The volcano slide is great (even if the pool is a little small for the resort.) It's nice to have the choice of either boat or monorail to get to the MK, and I love being able to walk to the TTC and get directly on an Epcot monorail. I think the garden view rooms are great at the Poly. Even if it's a room facing towards the parking lot, you can see the monorail going by, which I think is kind of cool.

Lots of people love the Contemporary, too, and there really is no "wrong" choice here...it's just about what's right for you and your family! If you haven't already, you can look at pictures of each resort at Allears.net. Disney's Polynesian Resort Slideshow Disney's Contemporary Resort Slideshow

Good luck deciding!

I've stayed at both resorts - personally, I prefer the Contemporary, but they were both lovely. You can't beat that short walk straight into the Magic Kingdom!

The volcano pool at the Poly is great fun - which is important with little ones - but since you are staying in January - it's important to note that there is no hot tub at the Polynesian. The water in the pools is heated - but we still found it quite chilly when we stayed here and that was in November (a cold November though). My daughters always enjoyed the pool at the Contemporary, although they did like the volcano slide just a bit better than the CR slide. I like that there is a hot tub right in the center of the pool - so I can stay warm while the kids are swimming!

The restaurants at both resorts are great - as is the shopping (although I give a slight edge to the Concourse shopping at the CR) - but the arcade is much bigger at the Contemporary and it's right inside the building. The arcade at the Poly is over on the edge by the Neverland Club. I didn't like all the separate buildings at the Poly. That said - there is no kids' club at the CR anymore, while the Neverland Club is the best on property. That might be a consideration if you plan to use that service.

Good luck with your choice - they are both great resorts!!

I love them both too. Both are monrail hotels, but we prefer CR with the kids they love the short walk to MK. Bigger arcade and the shopping is better at CR. The Poly we save for the year that Dh and I go alone. The island feel is romantic as is the walk between Poly and GF at sunset. We walk to dinner at Narcoossee's. So I agree no wrong decision here just whichever you prefer.

I wasn't expecting to be as wowed by the Contemporary as I was during our stay in May - I loved it there.

Hhmm, those are two very different resorts. That's why I think a split stay would be worth considering.

I would say book the Contemporary. I love the Contemporary because of the pool and the boats. I love taking one of the bigger boats out and just going out on the lake for a while that is really fun. But if you really want to go over to Poly, I recommend that you take the monorail over and watch MK fireworks from the beach area. It is really alot of fun just sitting there and relaxing during the fireworks. I recommend getting a hammock (just don't fall asleep in it, it is that confortable). That way you get to see both, and don't have to worry about switching hotels.

I like the price of CR garden wing better, but like the theming of the Poly more.
