Anyone else have this issue? Hi all, I've stayed at both POFQ and WL, and call me crazy, but I preferred certain things about POFQ over WL (ie, food court, bathroom set-up). The one thing, however, that I definitely did NOT like better at POFQ was the double beds. DH and I are tall and doubles are really tight for us (need to stay at deluxe to get a queen. And now that we have a king bed at home we are REALLY spoiled!) ![]() Also, our 2 kids are boy/girl so we liked the bunks at WL. I would love to save money and go to a moderate next trip but would prefer not to sleep in a double or with one of my kids...However, we really go commando style at the parks and crashing with the kids may not be so bad due to the exhaustion level. What would you do?

Re: Anyone else have this issue? I know exactly what you are talking about. We have a king bed at home and it is wonderful to have so much room. I guess you have to ask yourself some questions . Are you the type that only uses the resort room for sleep? If that's the case, you better get a good bed! Are you more concerned with other things at the resort, such as, the ones you mentioned? I have to agree, I do like the moderates, they are a good value. But...Seems like the bed-situation, at least with me, would win out. I can't stand not getting a good night's rest. You should be able to get some good deals at the deluxe resorts with codes or AP rates.

Re: Anyone else have this issue? I know what you mean about the double beds. Last time when we moved from CBR to AKL we couldn't believe the differnce a queen size bed made. This stay, we are splitting our stay between a value resort and a deluxe, for lots of reasons, but also for being able to sleep in a queen size bed after a double. I know that sounds goofy but it did play into our decision. We're doing the value resort on the days we are in the parks, then relaxing and staying at the resort during our AKL stay! We feel we're getting the best of both worlds at a price we can afford.

Re: Anyone else have this issue? This is exactly why we chose to stay off site. I don't consider it a vacation if I have to squeeze my family of 5 into a room that barely holds us, let alone our stuff. Disney isn't the most accomodating for a family of 5, unless you want to pay $200/night. We found a large suite (800 sq feet compared to 350 sq ft at POR) for $55/night. No, I won't have the Disney magic. I will be comfortable and well rested to enjoy my vacation.

Re: Anyone else have this issue? For exactly this reason, DH and I are unlikely to ever stay at a moderate or value on-site again. Double beds just aren't big enough. And, yes, once you get a king, you're even spoiled for a queen. Then again, this is a great reason for me to tell DH: If you want me to come and you want me to stay on-site, it's WL!

Re: Anyone else have this issue? If you didn't have an issue about staying off site, you could stay at Holiday Inn Family Suites. They have a king bed in the master bedroom then twin beds in the kids room. Or, one of your kids could sleep in the kids room and the other in the living room on the pull out couch. You can get these for the Entertainment Book rate of $102.50. It is just outside the gates of downtown disney. You would need a car, however to get to the parks. I wouldn't rely on their shuttle. They have a great pool. http://www.hifamilysuites.com I haven't personally stayed there, but am considering it for our next trip. I've read lots of great reviews about this place. Plus kids eat free and free breakfast buffet for all. Maggie

Re: Anyone else have this issue? Us too! In the past we have stayed at POR with two adjoining rooms. That gave us the extra room and hubby and I each got our own bed. This time we are trying out the Beach Club. We are really looking forward to a regular sized bed. Disney really should do something about this, as it is not possible for everyone to do that. Laura

Re: Anyone else have this issue? My suggestion would be to get adjoining rooms at one of the value resorts. The handicapped accessible rooms have king beds, and the room next door would have the two doubles for your kids. You'd have more room and still be on site. Good luck whatever you decide. It does sound like Disney needs to look into this, though.

Re: Anyone else have this issue? Another alternative is the Fort Wilderness cabins. The kids have bunk beds. There's one double bed in the bedroom with the bunks and a murphy bed in the living room. If you don't mind sleeping in separate beds, it's great. I always got to stay up later to do my trip report while hubby went to bed with the kids. We cooked in the room. You can get rates at FtW as good as $137 during the value season sometimes. We loved it. We have a boy and a girl, too.

Re: Anyone else have this issue? Ft Wilderness cabins are a good option. Even though the cabins have full sized beds, there are two, plus the bunk beds. I know what you mean about sleeping two in a full size bed. Both DH & I are below average in weight, but are both above average height and a full size bed is a tight fit. In the past two visits we have traveled with DM who used the murphy bed, but she is not going this year, so I have a feeling one of us will be making good use of it. As for the rate, I have only been able to get a rate under $140 per night with an AP discount. And that was in value season. Before that I used the Disney Club discount during value season and it was somewhere in the $180 per night range. That's still a lot more money than staying off site! I agree with posts above. Disney really does need to address the bed size at their resorts! Nothing beats a good nights sleep to get you ready for a full day of magic.
