Re: Downtown Disney hotels - buses?? We stayed at the Hotel Royal Plaza in August 2003 but did not use the bus service. We found we were better off just driving our rental car to and from the parks. Much faster than the buses would have been!

Re: Downtown Disney hotels - buses?? My Mother and Sister stayed at the Grosvenor Resort in May 2003. They said the busses ran really smoothly. It was my mothers first time, so she didn't have anything to go on. They both enjoyed the there time at Disney. Hope this helps.

Re: Downtown Disney hotels - buses?? We stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott at DTD (now the Holiday Inn) at the end of December 2003. We took the buses quite a lot and found them to be frequent and reliable.

Re: Downtown Disney hotels - buses?? Hi Barb. I've stayed at Hotel Royal Plaza and Doubletree Guest Suites at DTD and used their bus service. The buses were large and comfortable with regular padded seats, not those molded plastic seats that Disney buses have. The buses ran about every 30 minutes, so yes, it was faster to drive, but then you have to pay $7 for parking. Sometimes the buses got very full by the time they stopped at several hotels, and if you were at the last pickup, you might end up standing, or not even getting on the bus if it's too packed. I think that happened at the Grovesnor once or twice in August. Several of the hotels share one bus, but I imagine during very busy times they may add more buses to handle the crowds. It's free transportation to the parks, so just relax and go with the flow. But get to the bus stops early (they are usually near the hotel entrance or some designated spot) so you can get a good seat.
