Mosquitoes at Wilderness Lodge in June? In my usual fashion, I have to worry about the slightest detail..so my new one is: are there a bunch of mosquitoes at WL in June due to all of the trees? Does Disney spray for mosquitoes? I simply remember that Disney always has that warning letter in your resort room regarding mosquitoes and West Nile Virus. My group is such an odd bunch more susceptible to things (we have an 83 yr old, two 4 yr olds, and I have an autoimmune illness!). My Dad asked the other day about all the trees there, and that got me thinking. I remember in December at AKL swatting at mosquitoes! So, what do you think? I can't spray any mosquito repellent on us, otherwise it would kick in my illness...Hmmm...what to do?

Re: Mosquitoes at Wilderness Lodge in June? Hi Lilyian! I too have a compromised immune system and can't take a lot of risks, but the short story is that there ARE mosquitoes at WDW, and some of them hang around the WL( guess they the place as much as I do!). Don't go outside on the patios or balconies early in the morning or in the evening, as you are a "bug buffet" just waiting to be devoured! Check out the web site for the Vermont Country Store as they have several natural insect repellants that are kinder to your system-I can't remember the name of what I used but it'll come to me I imagine that the grounds are sprayed, but there is a lot of water around there with the otter pond and Bay Lake and the population of the little buggers just keeps on growing-I've been bitten in mid-February while there! If you avoid the early and later times though, you can minimize your exposure

Re: Mosquitoes at Wilderness Lodge in June? I would definitely ask for a room on an upper floor and maybe away from any water sources if mosquitos are a problem for any of your party and you plan to spend any time out on the balcony. I've never had a problem with them at WDW, but I imagine they are around. -HiddenMickey

Re: Mosquitoes at Wilderness Lodge in June? There is a lotion from Avon, maybe someone will come along and help me remember the name, that you can wear and people swear by it. It keeps all kinds of bugs away and it is not even a bug repellant. It might be Skin So Soft, but I'm not sure. I even know of people rubbing it on horses to keep the horse flies away. I'll see if I can find some more information on it for you.

Re: Mosquitoes at Wilderness Lodge in June? I found it! Click below: http://www.avon.com Under "search", type in "skin lotions" and you will get all the varieties. They make several Skin-So-Soft formulas and now they even make an actual bug repellant one! It is DEEt-free and PABA-free. Maybe this will work out!
