Bunk Bed Rooms at WL I was reading some comments about WL's bunkbed rooms, and many folks said that those rooms were dimmer and poorer lighting due to the fact that the wall lamp that normally would be over the queen bed, had to be removed to make room for the bunkbed to be put into the queen bed's place. However, in looking at some photos, I do see a wall lamp over the top bunk. Does that mean that the problem was solved, or just that only some rooms have the lamp. Truthfully, I'd rather a room with 2 queens and I'm not certain if that kind of request is guaranteed (I'm sure there are people out there who do not feel comfortable in a bunk bed...maybe even some children don't like sleeping up top either).

Re: Bunk Bed Rooms at WL Hello Lynne- Ok, here is the deal, straight up about the rooms with bunk beds. My mom, two sisters and BIL's, DH,DD,and myself did a family trip to WL. My one sister and BIL got the room with the bunk beds. They had only been married a year and a half! LOL. Anyhoo- I inspected that room for future PassPorter's and myself. Since there is one queen and the bunks, there is a bit more floor space than the rooms with the 2 queen beds. The lighting isn't an issue. The wall lamp over the queen bed and over the bunk gave off pretty good light. Not to mention the hall light, vanity lights, and floor lamp. You can really get some light the rooms. I can't recall if there was a wall lamp above the bottom bunk.My sister, Nancy, said the top bunk was comfortable and she liked sleeping there (couldn't sleep one night, slept there to not disturb hubby). She said she felt like a kid again. She wasn't too worried about falling out either. The bottom bunk does have a low clearance, so it would be better for a child than an adult. I would guess that the clearance is less than three feet. Other than that the rooms are the same. There is no lighting difference that we noticed. And we were up late almost every night. ![]() If you have any other questions, just let me know! It seems like we have the same thoughts regarding the Lodge! I'll share all that you would like to know Linda

Re: Bunk Bed Rooms at WL I agree with LindaLu. We've stayed in both types of rooms (2 queens, queen and bunk) and really didn't notice anything different about them, other than the floor space being more open because the bunks are narrower than a queen. The kids loved the bunks and it was nice to vacation without sleeping next to a squirmy kid (DH and I share with the kids when there are only two beds). -HiddenMickey

Re: Bunk Bed Rooms at WL The bunkbed rooms were great! It was the first vacation were we didn't have draw straws and the loser sleep in the same bed with DD (she totally hogs the covers and rolls all over the place!)Both DD (10) and DS (5) thought they were great (and we rotated who got the top bunk each night). I thought the beds were very sturdy; the top bunk is completely surrounded with rails and the mattress is down lower in the bed. Lighting was not an issue; DD even had enough light to read in bed. And having more noticable floor space was a definite bonus. Either way, you can't go wrong staying at WL!

Re: Bunk Bed Rooms at WL We stayed at WL with the bunk beds too and loved them! To be honest with you I wish that every resort had them, it would make my life ALOT easier than requesting a day bed all the time! To me it was dark, but I prefer rooms that let in alot of light and are bright to begin with, so for me, this resort didnt do anything for me. But remember, what one person thinks of a resort, you might love! Enjoy!

Re: Bunk Bed Rooms at WL I forgot to add a comment about your comment on the request issue- True, you can't get Disney to guarantee that you will not get a room with bunk beds, however- they are pretty decent at being able to fulfill a request. If you aren't travelling with kids, chances are they will give you the room with two queen beds. The reason my sister and BIL got the room with bunks was we requested that the entire party be directly across the hall from each other. My mom had a courtyard view, as did DH,DD, and myself. In order to have the other family members directly across, they had woods views. It just so happened that the only way to accommodate this request was that one room have bunks. If you let them know that you would much rather 2 queen beds, I would feel comfortable in saying you would get that type of room. When you check in, remind them of your request. They are pretty cool at granting your request(unless the resort is booked to capacity). Linda
