For All the WL Fans.... I'm planning our next trips to WDW (October, December, and then sometime in the spring 05) and I'm curious about WL. I've heard in lots of places that while the resort is beautiful, the transportation can be a pain. We're big Contemp and Poly fans because of the monorail (with two small kids and all the paraphernalia we have to take into the parks with us). What has been your experience? Do the boats run frequently to and from the MK? And how are the busses? Thanks for your help! Donna

Re: For All the WL Fans.... We didn't have too many issues with the transportation at the WL. Our only complaint was if you leave the MK at park closing, expect a long wait to get onto the ferry. The two times we did it, we waited over an hour each time to get onto the ferry. You might be better to walk over to the CR and take the boat that runs from the CR to WL (if it's still running at that hour).

Re: For All the WL Fans.... We have never had a problem with the boats or busses. My advice on the boats -- what we always do -- watch the fireworks from the depot and make a fast jog to the boat dock as soon as the fireworks are over. An alternative would be to watch the fireworks from further inside the parks and shop your way down Main St. at a leasurely pace. Let the crowds thin out and then head to the boat dock.

Re: For All the WL Fans.... We loved WL! It's such an amazing place, the kind of hotel that just "wows" you the minute you walk in. We didn't have any serious transportation problems, other than the one night we stayed for the MK fireworks and they happened to closed Epcot for a media event -- which made MK extra crowded. They actually ran some buses that night to handle the heavy load. On the whole, we really enjoyed taking the boat to Magic Kingdom -- it was relaxing and a great way to start our day. Buses to the other major parks were fast and efficient. Just be careful if you visit the water parks because those buses run less frequently. Enjoy!!!

Re: For All the WL Fans.... We found the transportation system at WL to be excellent (both buses and boats). One little tip that can save a lot of time is to hop on the bus to the Ticket and Transportation Center (which is just across the road from the WL so is only about a two to three minute bus ride and the buses run REALLY frequently like every five minutes or so)and from there hop on the monorail to Epcot. As for the boat service to the M.K., it was great and the boat ride itself was extremely enjoyable. If we stayed at the M.K. until closing, then we would usually walk over to the Contemporary and take the W.L. boat from there. That boat runs until 10 p.m. Joy

| Re: For All the WL Fans.... [ QUOTE ] For Leaving MK: Would it be really silly to take the big ferry from MK to TTC and then get a bus from TTC to WL? Or does the timing not work on that? [/ QUOTE ] This would probably work out all right timewise but then you'd be running into the huge line-ups at the ferry boat and crowds who are all leaving the Magic Kingdom at about the same time. | Re: For All the WL Fans.... Thank you SO much everyone -- all these tips and info has been really helpful, and made me feel much better about going there. We'd really like to try ALL the deluxe properties before our APs expire (in May), so as long as the family is cool with it, I think we'll go to WL for Caroline's birthday in October. |

Re: For All the WL Fans.... WE LOVE the WL ! The only transportation problem we ever encountered was a late night bus trip from the MK. the boats weren't running(none of us can remember why ), so we took the monorail to the TTC and had to wait "forever" for a bus. When it finally showed up,the driver realized that this was the last, and only, way to get to WL and FW so he waited about 45 minutes just to make sure that no one was stranded( I know, I know, he was being nice, but it didn't make the load of hot, tired and cranky passengers feel any better!). It took almost 2 hours from the time we left the MK to the time we entered the WL That was the one and only problem though and the beauty of the WL makes up for it 100 times over .

Re: For All the WL Fans.... According to the Passporter, WL rooms start at about 350 square feet in size. If you want a little more floor spsce in a standard sized room, you can request one of the rooms that has one queen-size bed and bunk beds in it. That frees up a certain amount of space. Joy
