Grand Floridian--Lodge Concierge vs. Main Building Concierge

I know someone can give me the answer to my question. What is the difference between Lodge Concierge and Main Building Concierge other than the dollar amount? I've checked Deb's site but nothing about the difference is given. If you've stayed at Grand Floridian concierge please give my your opinion about it. I'm thinking of treating my family to part of our December trip using concierge service. We've never experienced it before and I need information to make the decision. Thanks

Re: Grand Floridian--Lodge Concierge vs. Main Building Concierge

I thought the only difference was the room location, but I'm not sure about that. We stayed in Sago Cay in Dec, but not concierge (couldn't get Kellogg's to spring for *that* much extra! ) Hopefully someone will have a more definitive answer for you!

Re: Grand Floridian--Lodge Concierge vs. Main Building Concierge

My understanding as well was the room location. Lodge concierge you are located in a different building (usually Sago Cay), Main building concierge is exactly what it sounds like - your room is right there in the Main building by the Concierge Lounge (which is located on the 5th floor if I remember correctly). Staying Lodge concierge you still have access to the Main Building concierge lounge, but it is just a little less convenient because you have to walk to a different building to get there.

When we stayed at GF last year, we were there on the Platinum Plan. Our room was in Conch Cay but because we were Platinum guests, we were given concierge access, which was very nice. We used the concierge staff several times (who were very nice & helpful) and we ate breakfast & snacks in the lounge. Both the hotel & concierge staff were wonderful.

Re: Grand Floridian--Lodge Concierge vs. Main Building Concierge

We stayed lodge concierge in Conch Key and loved it. It was not too bad of a walk, and our building was much quieter than the Main lodge. We did not use the concierge as much as we should have because we were on the Grand Plan and ate 3 meals/day+snacks, so needless to say we felt stuffed all the time. It was a neat experience and I don't think you'll regret it.

I noticed this in your sig line too: "1st family vacation courtesy of Kellogg's Bobbleheads! Dec 2003, HIFS, GF, AKL "

Okay, I just gotta ask.... how did Kellogg's Bobbleheads pay for your trip?

Re: Grand Floridian--Lodge Concierge vs. Main Building Concierge

It's as the others say...location. We were on the Platinum plan last year and we knew that we would have access to the concierge lounge. A couple of weeks before our arrival the platinum planners called to see if we would mind being moved to the main building concierge level as the building where we had orginally picked was needed for a convention. Hmmm...did we mind???? Just to say IT WAS WONDERFUL. Being in the main building and walking down one floor to the concerige staff and up one floor to the lounge was fabulous. If I had the opportunity to do main building concierge again it would take be about 1 second to say OF COURSE!!! Hope this helps.

Re: Grand Floridian--Lodge Concierge vs. Main Building Concierge

It is location. And, before you think, well, not a big deal, think again.
We always go to WDW on Platinum Plan. Always concierge. And, we have stayed at 4 resorts. All of them at least once near the conc. lounge and staff, and at least once in another building.
It is easier to access them if they are near. They will know you by name, and be more helpful (of course this means about 99% instead of 97%)
I love GF main building! But, the lodge buildings are very nice too.
