December codes are out & we can\'t get a room!

I was so excited when the codes came out for December two days ago, until I called CRO. I really wanted to get a deluxe resort, and was holding out for the codes. What a disappointment when I was told there are NO deluxe rooms available with the discount code - already. We have a room at POFQ, and I was lucky enough to get the code rate for that room. My other concern is that I have never been to WDW during the first week of December, and was hoping that it would be a little less crowded than Spring Break when we usually go. Now, it is sounding like they are really booking up like crazy. Anyone been there during the first week of December, any thoughts on the "sold out" discount codes? I don't mean to sound like a whiner - hey I am going to WDW, who cares where we sleep, right? I just thought I had this whole thing figured out and would jump right in when the codes came out and be set.

Re: December codes are out & we can\'t get a room!

I'm on my way to developing a theory about the AP codes and the first week of December. You know MouseFest, well it is going on the first part of December and who goes to MouseFest? AP holders who watch for codes fanatically . We were booked in POR Dec. 5-9 and I was able to apply the AP code after receiving the email before mousesavers.com posted the code and I still waited on hold for 45 minutes. My sister is doing a quick trip Oct. 7-10 and wasn't able to get anything besides the big suite at WL for $600/night . She is a FL/AP and military and no luck. She ended up doing the Wydham with a SOG overflow rate. Anyway, I feel your pain and my only suggestion is to call back around Sept. 10 when the 14 day holds expire on the earliest ressies with no deposit and see if something opens up.

Good Luck!

Re: December codes are out & we can\'t get a room!

I was advised by a cast member Wednesday afternoon to call first thing in the morning. I call Thursday morning at 6:15 Texas-time and got the AP rate at POR for the Nov. 6-13. Don't give up! Pixie dust your way.

Re: December codes are out & we can\'t get a room!

Like the others have said, just keep on trying, something will probably open up. People have to cancel all the time. I know personally about this. My beautiful trip to WL had to be cancelled, and as I sit here typing, , I would be at WDW right now.

Re: December codes are out & we can\'t get a room!

I don't think that the filling up of AP code rooms has anything to do with the number of people attending WDW. The way I understand it, they will only apply the AP rate to a limited number of rooms at each resort. It doesn't mean that the resorts are sold out. That's the way I have always understood it. I could be wrong, though.

Re: December codes are out & we can\'t get a room!

I know how frustrating this is! Disney only puts a certain amount of rooms aside for each code. Now remember there are already about 4 codes out there! There is the AAA code, Dream maker code, room only code and the AP code, oh sorry there are 5 for there is also the postcard/email code too! I ended up being able to book a room via the internet on Disneyworld.com in the Poly, but dropped that one and went with PO-R instead for money issues. Hang in there and dont give up! Make sure that you have the 1-800 number so your phone bill doesnt go thru the roof!

Re: December codes are out & we can\'t get a room!

I've been there the first week of December before, and I do have a theory. As said above, there are only a limited number of rooms available at each resort for the discount code. That doesn't mean that the resort is booked up, just means that they have filled the quota of rooms offered at the discount rate. Moderate and value resorts are huge, with many more rooms available than some of the Deluxe resorts and they probably have more of them available at the code rates. I don't think that it's necessarily all booked up and will be extremely crowded; I think just many savvy travelers knew about the codes the moment they hit and were lucky enough to scoop them up right away. I'll be there the first week of December, and I'm counting on low crowds as in the past!!

Re: December codes are out & we can\'t get a room!

" I just thought I had this whole thing figured out and would jump right in when the codes came out and be set."

We thought the same thing! We reserved our rooms at AKL in March, thinking we'd snatch up an AP rate with no problems. After all, December is a low crowd time, right? Humph! When AP rates came out last week, we weren't able to get discounts on any of our three rooms! Fortunately, we were able to postpone our trip one more week in order to get the codes, saving our group over $1550. We had already bought MVMCP tix, but I talked to WDW Ticketing, and they're going to exchange them for the new date. Sounds like the first week of December is far busier than we've been led to believe! No matter...we'll have a wonderful trip anyway!

I don't care where we sleep, that's why we stay off property. It opens up so many options that you don't have on propety.

Re: December codes are out & we can\'t get a room!

I would agree with the try, try, try again strategy. One late night, I was desperately trying to nail down cheap airline tix while DH was on the phone making reservations. Being the careful, thorough person that he is, he had the CM list all available room types for our dates. Then he wanted to pick out a room which was, of course, gone. We ended up with $200/nt BC ressies. DH was having a near heart attack. Later on, I called early in the AM and got about half that at the AKL. Much better!

Re: December codes are out & we can\'t get a room!

They only have a limited amount of rooms at these rates, and they go fast... I love to go the first week of December, and will be down there this year.... it is usually nowhere as crowded as Spring Break. It's not so much that they are all booked up, it's that they only set aside a certain number of rooms... we are staying at POP Century, and I got $49 a night.... that's cheaper than they are advertising for it on special right now.... good luck!
