Question about Swan/Dolphin Concierge

Does anyone know if I can use starpoints to upgrade to concierge for one night only of a two night reservation? My mom and I are doing a little mini-vacation, and we are doing the "let's do nothing, get a massage and relax" that day. I'd love for her to feel pampered by the concierge lounge if possible. Also--I only have enough starpoints to do this for one night. Any info would be greatly appreciated!!! Also--what's the best room location for Illuminations fireworks? Anyone know?

Re: Question about Swan/Dolphin Concierge

We stayed CL at Swan last 12/27-1/02/04. The lounge has wonderful food offerings, great staff (especially Thabo) and turn down service. We had view of TOT at MGM and watched the fireworks NYE from our room(we were on 11th floor facing front entrance to swan and the waterway to MGM) after we left mgm around 11:30. We also had a partial view of Epcot fireworks from our room, but you do have a great view from the dock at Swan/Dolphin. We were very new SPG members then, so we didn't have enough points to upgrade to CL on points(we have plenty now with SPG AmEX card), but we had CL rate of $214 with teachers discount and it was well worth the money. No other resort at WDW had any discounts with the check-in after 12/24, so we thought it was great. I think you have a chance to upgrade at check-in, but depends of how booked the resort is. You will have a great time there.

Re: Question about Swan/Dolphin Concierge

I would just call Swan and ask or call your preferred guest #. I don't see why they wouldn't let you use points for 1 or 2 days...you just might have to make 2 different resservations and a room change if they don't comp you a free upgrade. You should also check on your rate. I use Courtney at www.grandgetawaystravel.com She got me a great deal at the Swan arriving January 2005 and another amazing deal arriving on New Year's Eve December 31, 2005 staying concierge level both times. Best of all, you have a TA helping you every step of the way.

Question about Swan/Dolphin Concierge

I'd just pick up the phone and give them a call. You don't need a travel agent for something like that and since it's starpoints you're better off doing it yourself.
