Paying in Advance

Hi ,
I am new to the boards , and waiting for my passporter to come in the mail ! My family is in the process of planning our second trip to the WDW ( Dec. 2001 ) , and will be staying on-site for the first time . I would love to stay at a deluxe resort ( we are a family of five - three teens ) , but instead will be purchasing two rooms at the all star resorts ( movies or music ) , anyway my question is can you pay Disney each month towards your room , and what if you decide to change resorts , is this more of a hassle than it is worth ? ( Sorry for the long post ! )

Re: Paying in Advance

Hi Cyndi and welcome to the boards!!
As far as I know, only the deposit is due within 10 days of booking your trip. After that, the remainder of the money doesn't have to be paid until 45 days prior to your arrival. So I'm sure you could make payments until the balance is due. I don't think it is too much of a hassle to change your resort. Even once the balance is paid, I believe they will just apply the money to the new resort. I know I've changed my reservations twice now...not resorts, however, just packages. But I really don't see any difference in how they would handle it. Anyway, I hope this helps some .

Re: Paying in Advance

You sure can pay in advance. With CRO you can charge to American Express or the Disney Card. You can fax them a letter giving the OK to charge to Mastercard, Visa or Discover and a couple of others no one has. With The Disney Travel Co you can pay by credit card with any of the above cards over the phone. In addition you may send a check for payment.

Your post reminded me that I have to call to put another $100 towards our next trip!

Re: Paying in Advance

Welcome to the board, cyndi! Don't be afraid to change your resort. It can be done very easily, provided that there is a vacancy in your desired resort. All money paid towards your current resort will be switched to your new choice.

Have a great trip!

Re: Paying in Advance

IN case you haven't compare the prices of two smaller rooms at an All Star and one larger room at another resort. You may find the prices are comperable. Welcome to the boards.

Re: Paying in Advance

Hi, and welcome to PassPorter boards! (and a Welcome Back to me, since I've been away so long! )

My partner and I just changed our reservations because the party with whom we were traveling bailed on us. Now, instead of Dixie Landings, we're staying at Wilderness Lodge, and we're evey staying for an extra night.

Since we paid off our balance about 3 months ago, that $$$ is fine. Now, all we have to pay is the cost of the upgrade to WL (plus the cost of one extra night). All of that is still due 45 days in advance.

Hope this helps!!!

Re: Paying in Advance

Welcome Cyndi! You sure can send in monthly payments. We are doing that ourselves. I make a copy of our latest reservation letter and send that along with the payment and a note to send us an updated res. letter. No problem for us at all! Enjoy planning your trip!

Re: Paying in Advance

By the way, if you make your reservation thru CRO, you can cancel up to 5 days before the trip and get all your $ back, but it's 45 days with the WDW Travel Co.
And yes, you can pay a little each month or so, just be sure to send a copy of your confirmation letter and write the reservation # on the check!

Re: Paying in Advance

I booked in oct 99 and have been sending in a little eadch month. I booked a room only and when I have enough money on account, i call and add on a LOS pass for one of us at a time. All i have to pay for now is 2 childs LOS passes and I'm done!! I also changed my resort last week with no problem, they just gave me a new res. # and transferred all the money to the new res. I got a great upsell rate at WL-154/night!!
