Re: the Disney All Star Movies Resort

It's one of the four value resorts at Disney World. It's themed to movies with five sections spread across ten buildings. Each section is themed to a different Disney Film. There are Toy Story, Fantasia, The Love Bug, 101 Dalmatians and Mighty Ducks. Each section has large icons and decoration related to its theme. For instance, one of the Toy Story buildings has 36 Ft Tall Buzz Lightyear standing out front. Fantasia is closest to the Food Court and Shop. Because if this the rooms in Fantasia cost a bit more than the rooms in the other sections. The rooms are small (260 Sq. Ft.) and contain either two double beds or one king-sized bed. The rooms with king-sized beds are handicapped accessible and contain walk/roll in showers rather than tubs. There is a food court but not a sit-down restaurant.
I think the resort is fun and the best themed of the All Star resorts.

Enjoy,

Re: the Disney All Star Movies Resort

I have stayed here twice and really liked it. We did fork over the extra $10/night to get the Fantasia building because we wanted to be next to the pool and the foodcourt. (Well worth it in my book!)

Here's more detailed info on the resort.

Have a great trip

If you don't want to spend the extra $10 a day to be in the Fantasmic bldg pick the Might Ducks Bldgs. You get your own quite pool which was great and those bldgs are close to the bus stops for the All Star Music so you just get on the Music buses from any park instead of Movies and your closer to your room when you get off. We stayed there in Oct and had a blast.

Re: the Disney All Star Movies Resort

We are of the opinion that our agent had a hand in our upgrading our resort, but we will never know.
What I do know is this. We had a wonderful time at the AS Movie and the area we stayed in was Fantasia. We were on the first floor and in a quiet area. Mostly families stayed here. We would most definitely stay here again when we do return. The main building had 4 different open court type resturants and the one that was our fav was to the left of the Italian one. Big omelets and there are sandwiches as well. Great atmosphere but yet there really isn't any place to "hang out" in as would AK or WL. For the price it is worth it.

Re: the Disney All Star Movies Resort

Hi Pixiedust and welcome to the boards!

Although I haven't stayed at All Star Movies, I have stayed at All Star Music and from what I've observed, all three of the All Star resorts are very similar. We enjoyed our stay here and found our room to be clean, comfortable and cozy with extremely comfortable beds. The transportation to the theme parks was excellent - we never waited any more than 10 minutes for a bus and a wait of any kind was rare. Although the All Stars don't offer any of the nicer amenities to be found at the Deluxes and even the Moderates, their pools are still terrific and they truly are a bargain.

Re: the Disney All Star Movies Resort

We stayed at the Movies a few years ago in the Toy Story section. I thought it was just great, especially for a value resort. The pool is cute and the food court was just fine. It is more crowded than deluxes (or it seems that way) and doesn't have all the nicer ammenities, but it is a great value! BTW, the Toy Story section is further away from the pool and food court than other sections.

Re: the Disney All Star Movies Resort

Movies is great. It's a good sized resort, too, not too big, not too small. We were in the Mighty Ducks building, and had to walk every day to the Cinema Hall to get the busses, and it was a very quick, nice walk. Much smaller than Pop Century, I think. (Pop's great too!)

Definatley invest in the refillable mugs, especially if you will be bussing it to the parks!

Have fun!

We stayed in the Dalmation bldg, and were close to the Duck Pond and food court. Not very quiet at all, and always crowded. The place is very fun though, and our dd loved it there. We did like it better than ASMus.

This is one of my favorite resorts! The theme is so much fun! We've stayed in both Mighty Ducks and Fantasia buildings. They both were great!

Re: the Disney All Star Movies Resort

Welcome to the boards!!!

We stayed at All Star Movies just last month and had a great time!!! It worked well for us because we were on a budget and we really weren't in the room that often. We stayed in The Love Bug section and it was VERY quiet! A little walk from Cinema Hall (the main building and bus stops) but it really wasn't TOO far and was actually an enjoyable walk. Both pools were always very busy, but surprisingly quiet. The food court had a good selection of food offerings and was pretty decently priced (by Disney standards). I recommend the Chicken Parmesan DO take advantage of the refillable mugs there if you drink a lot of soda, coffe or tea . . . they are $11.99 each (plus tax) and we found ours to be more than worth it!!!

As someone said before, there isn't a lot of places to "hang out" . . . just the arcade, the pool, the food court, the gift shop, the kids' movie area in the lobby, the poolside bar and the laundry room And, you'll want to take some time to walk around the whole resort to look at the giant props!!!

Hope this helps!!!
