Dixie Landings bayou or mansion?

I'm new to these boards, but I was wondering if you guys could help me out on a decision I need to make soon. We are staying at Dixie Landings from December 18-24 and I originally booked our room for the mansion area of the resort. Now I'm hearing a lot of great things about Alligator Bayou, and I'm wondering if I should switch. Should I?

WELCOME, ARIEL!

We prefer the Bayou, but I think the folks here are evenly divided on this subject. My impression of the Mansions is beautiful and grand, whereas the Bayou is more secluded and cozy. The room layouts are quite similar. I don't think you would be disappointed with either.

Re: Dixie Landings bayou or mansion?

Hi. Last February we stayed at DxL. We had asked for Alligator Bayou when we reserved and sent a fax a couple of days before we got there. Well.......we wound up in the Mansions. It was very nice anyway. We enjoyed it. You can not lose.

I've always stayed in the bayous. I find them much more "comfy" then the mansions (which are beautiful). We'd fall asleep listening to the frogs outside our room. Whatever you choose, the resort is wonderful.

Re: Dixie Landings bayou or mansion?

I'd guess you chose Magnolia Bend's mansions for a reason.

Although I prefer the dressed-down, rural feeling of Alligator Bayou, I love walking through the grounds at Magnolia Bend. I'm reminded of places like Mount Vernon and Williamsburg, with their formal gardens and grand architecture.

As the rooms themselves differ only in decor, you'll have the same comfort in either case - it's just a matter of which style will make you feel better. Go with your fantasy, whatever it may be - this is Disney, after all!

Re: Dixie Landings bayou or mansion?

We just returned from DL, Bayou section building 27. It was okay. The grounds were not as clean as CBR the week before, we saw some trash on the walkway the whole time we were there, The food court is very noisy and conjested with only two coffee pots.

After being there for four days, we thought the mansion section may be better for couples as it seemed much quieter. This might be nickpicking since by the time we left, we were okay with the Bayou section. Have a great trip.
