CX one reservation and making another. I see so many helpful hints - and I know this must have been discussed before my visits to the boards - but if anyone can help I would appreciate it. My DH and I have booked a week at the Beach Club in October of 2002. We were told that discounts were not in the computer at that time and even though we have mailed our deposit, we could change it later. I will have to keep checking here to see if anyone knows when the discounts are in for 2002. I am sure others have done this - but was it a problem at all to have your money switched to your new reservation? Is there any penalty in CX the one we have and switching it? And I guess the next question is...Do you think that once you have a reservation - they are as helpful in finding you the best rates and discounts? We are flexible as to times and would like a package plan this trip. And now for the most important question (drum roll please)... Can we make it till 2002? ~jo anne

Re: CX one reservation and making another. Joanne--Are you DC members? The DC discounts for 2002 will probably be out in October 2001. Hopefully someone will post that they are out when the time comes. Since I am not a member, I haven't kept up with what kind of discounts are available when, but it seems to me if I remember right, you might be able to get 10% off a deluxe in October (regular season). If you could go in late September you could get about 20% off. (value season). Lots of people change their reservations and have no problem moving the deposit to the new reservation. Well, I guess we have to ask, CAN you wait that long? HeeHee

Re: CX one reservation and making another. Jo Anne, If you want a discounted package plan, the plan to look for is currently called Fall Fantasy - one of the few packages that is discounted. That won't be available for 2002 for quite some time. Is your current reservation a package plan, or a room-only discount? Cancellation penalties kick-in at different times, depending on whether it's package or room-only, and whether you booked with CRO (407-WDISNEY) or Disney Travel Co. In either case, though, the soonest you'll encounter a penalty is 45 days prior to your vacation. We've never encountered a problem when changing a reservation. However, it's never a bad idea to shop and find the rate you want before you tell them about your existing reservation. ------------------ Co-Author, PassPorter Walt Disney World 2001 http://www.passporter.com/wdw/

Re: CX one reservation and making another. Hidden Mickey and Dave - Thank you both for the reply - and visiting this site, reading information, and taking my PassPorter to bed each night will help make the 577 days pass We are DC members but I am not sure how they connected me. I think it was just through regular reservations since they did not have the discount amounts. I only booked a room - not the package yet AND with no discount at all! They said they could not give me any discounts for room or package. I will definitely remember the hint not to mention I have reservations when I call - thanks for that tip! I know you can visit the Disney site and check your reservations - but not one with 12 numbers like mine. Do you - or anyone - know why...what is the difference? It would be wonderful to see my account, the payment(s) and also any PS that I made. Thank you again - take care ~jo anne

Re: CX one reservation and making another. Another thing to rember is buy changing your dates you check-In, to a Value SeasonRate your whole stay is at that price. For example. My In-Laws First booked a trip to the Contempory 7-3-01 thru 7-8-01 for 5 days. They would be paying Regular season rates the whole 5 days but buy changing there check in date to 7-4-01 thru the 7-9-01 which is in value season they where able to get the whole 5 days at value season rate and save some money. It depends on when are going in October. For 2001 Value season ends 9-26-01 so as long as you check in before 9-26 you would be at the value rate. That's for this year I don't know what next year will be. I hope that's not to confusing if it is maybe some one can help clear it up. Just trying to help you save some money!!
