Pop Century!

Has anyone else seen the article in the new Disney mag about this new resort? I thought I wouldn't like it because of the huge icons (I don't care for them much at the All Star resorts) but that picture of the big Monopoly board has changed my mind!

The board is 60' by 60' and it looks so cool! It will be in the courtyard between the 1930's buildings and I just want to jump in and play on it! It's just an artist's rendering in the mag - I hope it turns out as well in real life!

Check it out on page 16!

Re: Pop Century!

The huge icons tend to overwhelm me also, but I do think they could soften the effect with more foliage and landscaping. The artist rendition of the Pop Century has nice landscaping. Let's hope this is close to the final plan!

Re: Pop Century!

This place is going to be HUGE. I could see it when we were driving into AKL a few weeks ago.

Re: Pop Century!

Cruella,

Which issue of Disney Magazine is it? I went down to the store in our lobby and it has the California Adventure on the cover, is that the one? Or it is it the new one? The one with CA Adventure is the Spring 2001 issue so I was thinking that maybe you were talking about the Summer 2001 issue.

I really want to read about the new Pop Century resort!

Thanks for your help!

Re: Pop Century!

So is it the new one that has the article about Pop Century in it? The one with Atlantis on the cover?

Re: Pop Century!

Allysonh,
Yep -- it's the brand new one -- with Atlantis on the cover.
When I checked at my local Disney store for this one (yesterday), the CM said it wasn't out yet. (other than to subscribers) I will keep my eyes peeled for it, though!
But... if you haven't bought the Spring '01 issue, it is FABULOUS! It has convinced DH and I that we are DEFINITELY going to DL/DCA next year! It looks soooooooo incredible!

Re: Pop Century!

Pop Century sounds cool. Does anyone know if they are taking reservations for Dec. yet. and went are they opening? Any DC discounts for December? I assume not, because they are new, but I thought I would ask anyways!

Re: Pop Century!

The first three buildings representing the 50's are scheduled to open in December. I do believe on the 15th.

Are you going to be there in December?

Re: Pop Century!

Hi Laura Belle, I am thinking of going in December for a few days before the Christmas break, while the rates are still down. Are they giving any DC or AP discounts?

I was told that if you check in to any WDW Resort during a value season, say Dec. 18th and continue your stay into a higher season, that your value rate prevails.
Does anyone know if this is true?
