Is concierge level worth the $$$?

I am looking at AKL, BC, Contemprary, WKL and Boardwalk (for 2 adults and three kids). Concierge level seems to add about $100 per night. Is it worth it?

Hint: I wouldn't use the wine and cheese in the evening.

Re: Is concierge level worth the $$$?

If you are trying to keep your trip on a tight budget, then no - obviously. However, if you are taking a once-in-a-lifetime, anniversary, special occassion type of trip, yes. I think it is more of a value to families as well. Clearly the more people using the amenities the better you make out in the long run. The concierge will also assist you with any hard-to-get PS reservations or show tickets. If you are staying at AKL, you can take advantage of the Sunrise Safari, which is exclusive to AKL concierge guests.
Hope this info is of some help to you.

Re: Is concierge level worth the $$$?

We always stay concierge.
Love the Boardwalk.
We do it for a few reasons - we like the fact that it is in a seperate area, there is the lounge where the kids can get snacks, and drinks to take to the park, and the service can't be beat. Also, we don't have to stand in line to register when we arrive at the resort, this is a big deal when we have been traveling for 5 hours, and have three tired, excited kids with us.

Re: Is concierge level worth the $$$?

We have only stayed at the Poly concierge and have loved it! I think most would agree that you don't stay there for the cost value of it, but more for the relaxed convenience of concierge. It was so nice being able to let everyone take their time in the morning and get breakfast. DH would get up at the crack of dawn and sit in the lounge and have a cup of coffee, etc. Also, the "snacks" in the evening were often our "dinner" while the kids swam in the pool! (We like to have our main meal in the middle of the day.) IT was great sipping a glass of wine and eating some goodies!

Re: Is concierge level worth the $$$?

We have also only stayed concierge at Polynesian but thought it was totally worth it. We got a good deal by going value season and doing the seven nights for the price of five package. It was so nice to have drinks and snacks right down the hall. We ate breakfast there every morning except for the couple of days we had character breakfasts. Also one night at dinnertime it was pouring rain, and we just had to walk down the hall to get something to eat. They were able to get us CRT breakfast and also took care of our other PSs. It was wonderful!

Re: Is concierge level worth the $$$?

Love concierge for the morning coffee, tea and breakfast - and the evening desserts! When looking at concierge you should look at what your time "costs", on whether it is worth it to you. We like the extra stuff concierge is able to do for you - and not worrying about PS's is the best! DH has high stress job, so whatever we can do to make him relax is worth it to me.

Plug for Contemporary - great view, great food, great room and most importantly great Cast Members!

Re: Is concierge level worth the $$$?

I have stayed at the Poly, Bc,YC and BW concierge levels. To me it is so worth it. I love the BW, the only place we stay now. The lounge is roomy and very comfortable and the cast is the best on property! Jackie and the gang will make sure your stay is as magical as possible! The planners are shared by the Epcot resorts and they are great at getting those hard to get PS and arranging surprises for you. I feel like I am returning home when I go there.

Re: Is concierge level worth the $$$?

Although I have never stayed concierge (and now that we're DVC members probably never will), from everything I've ever heard about it, it's well worth the extra money if you want to really pamper yourself. Also, if concierge is something you might want to try but it isn't of tantamount importance that you get it, you might want to book a regular room and then, at check-in, ask if you can possibly be upgraded to concierge. There will usually be an extra charge but often nowhere near the original cost of a concierge room and service.

Re: Is concierge level worth the $$$?

We have stayed in Concierge at the Pooly twice using our DVC points each time. We felt it was well worth it. The money you would spend on Breakfast alone can make the difference. We always had dessert there and we also had the wine and cheese before dinner. This was helpful due to the cost of wine while dining and the fact that restaurants in the MK do not serve alcohol. We loved the lounge also. We would do it again in a heartbeat. Also-check-in was so much easier!

We have not yet stayed, but getting all the PS we wanted, including CRT on Easter week! I think it will be well worth the money just for the simple fact that I didn't have to worry about making PS Christmas week for Easter week! ~Katie

Totally worth the price. The special service you receive (ie: they book PS for you, set up golf or other recreational activities, etc.) The lounge was great; wonderful breakfast oatmeal and exotic juices, etc. The children in our party were celebrating birthdays, and a cake and presents were given to them. And, since we stayed at AKL Concierge, the Sunrise Safari was DEFINATELYi\ a HUGE perk. We LOVED the AKL!!!!

Re: Is concierge level worth the $$$?

If you intend to spend most of your waking moments at the parks, then you may not think concierge is worth the money. You have to spend time lounging around the resort to really get the full benefit of concierge. And I don't mean this just from a standpoint of dollars and cents (just how much is each continental breakfast really worth?). When I stay in concierge and have the time to enjoy it, it's a wonderful, relaxing experience. When I'm dashing around the parks on research trips or at events like MouseFest, I feel I've cheated myself of the luxuries available.

I've also done trips where I've stayed just a night or two in concierge. For me, one night feels like a waste. You barely get settled in before it's over. Two nights is OK, but more is definitely much, much better. Relaxation is a state of mind, and it's very hard to turn it on and off at whim.

Re: Is concierge level worth the $$$?

I have to agree. Concierge can be worth it if you are going to enjoy the resort AS WELL as the parks. If you are a "hotel is just for sleeping" kind of oerson then Concierge is not for you.
