Re: Getting Nervous About Beach Club

I can't answer all of your questions, but as far as the pools go, the Yacht Club and Beach Club share Stormalong Bay so it's basically the same pool.

I'm not sure if there are refrigerators in the rooms, but there are mini-bars (they must have a refrigerated section) in every room. I've heard you can ask that it be emptied for your stay.

Construction is going on on the Epcot side and my friend stayed at BC last November and had a room more toward the lobby (sort of in the middle) and she didn't have any problems with the construction.

As for your nephew hanging out with your oldest, I don't think they will let him in the pool area.

Hope I've helped!

Re: Getting Nervous About Beach Club

construction--Request a room at check in that does not overlook the construction. If you get a waterview room it won't.

pool (depth)-- Varies from inches to over 6'. There is a kiddie pool that is probably aout a foot at the deepest part. There are parts of the mian pool that are only 3' or so, other parts that are well over my head.

view ? (for standard room)--ask for anything not overlooking the construction.

fridge?? is their one or not?--No. THere is a minibar, you can make a little room in that, but not much. You can rent a fridge for $10 a night. Depending on what you wanted to keep in it, you might just want to skip it. You can buy fresh milk every morning at Beaches and Cream for a fairly reasonable amount.

if there is..stocked with what??--If you rent a fridge, nothing. The mini-bar is stocked with juice, parmalat, mini bottles of booze and splits of wine, beer, candy, nuts, etc.

pool..checking for id's..(have nephew staying at another hotel with family..he will be hanging out with my oldest..)--Last couple times I was there they checked ID's on EVERYONE. If you won't be using the pool you could give him your ID to use for access. If you'll be using it, I'm afraid that he'll have to swim at his own resort.

Re: Getting Nervous About Beach Club

I am a teenager, and my family went to the beach club in 1998, so I can only remember the pool. At one point it is 6 feet, yet there is a section where it has the sand bottom and when I stood up it was a little bit past my knees. Where the slide came out I think it was around 4 feet. Hope that this helps.

Tinkerbell-

They don't check ID's at the quiet pool, I'm sure no one would object to your cousin swimming there with you. But they are just pools, no theming and NO LIFE GUARDS!

Re: Getting Nervous About Beach Club

We just returned from Disney last week. We stayed 4 nights at the Beach Club and thought it was wonderful. Many people have already answered many of your concerns but just to reassure you here are my thoughts:
We stayed on the 2nd floor room 2569 and found it to have a nice balcony and decent view(considering we had a "standard view", it was of a courtyard an partial volleyball view. One plus to this room location was that the "quiet" pool was very close. The other pools and services were down a flight and down a couple of winding hallways. As for the construction-the only way we knew there was construction was looking at the hotel from the entrance and from the Boardwalk-you will see large cranes behind the resort. But we did not hear any construction noise. The mini bar comes stocked with milk, juice, soft drinks, and alcoholic beverages as well as snacks available on the armoire. This was very convient, however, very expensive-2.25 for a can coke. I would request and pay for a refridgerator if possible. The pool was fantastic!!! The cast member checking id's at the pool only checked 1 of our cards for 2 adults and a baby(This was during the week of the 4th of July-pretty busy) Depending on your nephews age they might not ask or just go in as a group. Hope this helps.

Re: Getting Nervous About Beach Club

We just checked out of the Beach Club on July 18th. They were definitely checking IDs for Stormalong Bay. The pool was great fun, but it is easy to lose track of your kids because of the size. The kids loved the pool.

We were not happy with the room at the beach club. When we checked in we had a standing room only balcony with view of trees. We wanted a full size balcony so moved to a room with a view of roof, which wasn't too bad, on the Stormalong Bay side. The balcony was worth it. However, the curtains did not close properly, and maintenance had to come up with pliers to get them to shut.

I had to call 3 times to get a coffee pot, and when I finally got one, the glass pot obviously was not made for that coffee maker. It worked ok though. We had to bring our own coffee and filters, they did not provide them.

Finally when we went to use the hair dryer, it sparked and smoked and seemed like it was about to catch on fire. We had to wait for the next day for maintenance to put in a new one.

If you do laundry, use the big laundry, not the small one with the quiet pool. Everyone who used it complained none of the dryers worked. They stayed cool, and never got hot. After my husband complained they moved our laundry to the big laundry and refunded the money so he could use it in the dryer there. That worked fine.

I loved the proximity to Epcot, and the pool was a real plus with the kids, but I would not stay at the Beach Club again. I might try the Yacht club next time.

I would definitely go back to the Animal Kingdom Lodge, it was fabulous and well worth every penny.
