Pool Hopping?? Forgive me if this is taboo to talk about, but I haven't seen the answer anywhere, and have never done it. If you are staying on-site can you swim in any of the resorts pools?

Re: Pool Hopping?? Hi Patsy-C, You're technically only supposed to swim at your resort pool. However, the only pool they always check IDs at is Stormalong Bay. They may be chcking them at the Poly because it's a new pool.

Re: Pool Hopping?? A fence is up at the BW pool now and they are checking ID's there also. The only guests allowed to pool hop are DVC members. Even DVC members now have black out times for various pools. DVC members are now asked to also call the resort they wish to hop to prior to going over. Resorts will close pool hopping to DVC members if the pool is full of their own guests.

Re: Pool Hopping?? In days gone by, they used to encourage you to use the other resort pools, in fact, that was one of the "perks" of staying on property but as they have added a class system to their resorts, they have discouraged the pool hopping.

Re: Pool Hopping?? A lot of stuff is discouraged at Disney World, but there's no sense in letting that stop you. I say go for it, my fam pool hopped for 5 consecutive days while I was at the parks with a friend, and they absolutely loved, and thought it was worth the price of the trip. If you like pools, Disney World has the best, the worst that could happen is that you aren't let into one, and you move onto another. -Jose Carioca

| Re: Pool Hopping?? I hate raining on the parade... Just would like to throw in an ever-so-slightly gentle reminder that one of the perks of staying at a Deluxe resort is the use of its pool (Beach Club/Yacht Club and Wilderness Lodge come to mind right away); when you pool-hop, you are basically occupying space for which you did not technically pay. I certainly don't want to argue the ethics of the perceived "caste system", but I just wanted to add my opinion that I do not purport or condone pool hopping. I try to put myself in the mindset of the individual for whom staying at a resort with a "nice" (relative term) pool is a true perk, and I do think that I'd be upset if I couldn't enjoy my (paid for) pool visit because the area was overcrowded with persons who are not technically supposed to be there. Please keep in mind that rules and regulations do serve a purpose... Besides, Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach beat the pants off of any resort pool any day! | Re: Pool Hopping?? Yer not raining on Spectromagic, Magical Moments, or Tapestry of Nations. Pool hopping transcends the "caste system" too. People at deluxe resorts can be found in the Coronado Springs, etc. Actually, do you think Disney probably benefits more from pool hopping? Meaning, when guests go to visit another pool, they usually check out the resort, and may decide to come back and stay there. -Jose Carioca |

Re: Pool Hopping?? The best way not to get caught pool hopping is to bring your own towel. Most resorts don't check your ID unless you are asking for towels. Enjoy!

Re: Pool Hopping?? In 1999 - Spring Break we stayed at the Contemporary. We brought our own beach towels and had bought the refillable mugs. We actually heard the "help" walking around with walkie talkies saying things like "they have their own towels, but I see our refillable mugs", etc. They walked the pool decks quite frequently checking for "outsiders". I think they are not too fond of this pool hopping thing. Hope this helps.
