HELP!!!! Which Moderate Resort??? It's been a CRAZY week here... my best friend decides to tell me the other day that he has been in love with me since we first met(5 years ago) and that he never acted on it because I was a married woman... and he felt like I needed time to mourn my marriage and to get over the divorce. Needless to say I was totally blown away. He's a great guy... has always been there for me and is Godfather to both of my children. I never thought I could trust a man again after my divorce(no offense to all you wonderful Disney loving men out there), but I have known this incredible guy for 5 years and he has been an outstanding friend... could this be my Prince Charming? Am I dreaming?? Don't wake me up! Anyway... He and I were planning a trip to the World in December so that I could see Disney at Christmas as a spectator(since I perform in the Candlelight Processional from 89-92 and never got a chance to see the beauty of it). We had originally booked at All Star Music, but decided that since we won't have my two boys with us that we wanted to stay at a resort that is a little more "adult". So... now that I have made a short story long... lol.... which moderate resort do you guys prefer? The only one that I have stayed at is Coronado Springs, so any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys!

| Re: HELP!!!! Which Moderate Resort??? WOW - What a story! Sounds like a movie! I would personally go for the resort formerly known as Dixie Landings (I simply refuse to call it PO - Riverside!). It is gorgeous, very romantic, and very much has a Deluxe feel without the Deluxe price. You cannot go wrong. I'd recommend the Mansion setting. You'll love it. BTW - good luck - some guys really give other guys a bum rap and can really be jerks (and other "stronger" names) - others of us go out of our ways to make the ladies in our lives our Disney Princesses and my wish is that you have indeed found your Prince. | Re: HELP!!!! Which Moderate Resort??? MommaPooh- I'm staying at PO & everything I've heard about it is great but since I haven't been there yet can't help you there too much BUT.. I can help you on the 'romance' side. .. I basically had a similar thing...My very very good friend & I 'clicked' after I went through a painful divorce... I too was hesitant to start over but we both felt 'right' about our relationship & 9 years & 3 kids later we're still together & still very very happy ( & both Disney fanatics.. what could be better than that?) I say.. If it feels right go with your gut feeling.. My divorce was final on June 25,1992 & I married Jim on July 10,1992 that's how sure we were! Good luck! |

Re: HELP!!!! Which Moderate Resort??? Cool Beans! It's great being in love with your best friend. It's amazing how love can find you. We've stayed at CBR (on our honeymoon and two years later). In Oct 1999, we stayed at Dixie's (I too struggle with this whole PO-Riverside . . . I mean, what is up with that?). We've loved them both. At CBR you can lay in a hammock together. We found it to be very romantic. Let's face it, whenever and wherever . . . as long as it's Disney, you can't go wrong. [ 09-07-2001: Message edited by: Disney Fan ]

Re: HELP!!!! Which Moderate Resort??? I loved Dixie Landings and Port Orleans...and I too refuse to jumble them together...that makes no sense. The CM at CRO couldn not explain why they did that when I inquired. The grounds are very nice at both...and you can bike between the too...which is fun. Also...the Port Orleans locations are good because they are on the boatline to Pleasure Island...which is a plus for adults with no children...you will be able to spend more grown up time there. We just switched our ressies to Coranado Springs as we've never stayed there...we are looking forward to it. The Polynesian can be romantic too...but when I stayed there it was with my parents...and I was just a kid...but it was so pretty. I have a lot of friends that love the CBR...I've visited there plenty..but it doesn't appeal to me as much as PO for some reason. Although I've heard that the CSR is very similar to CBR...so we'll see. As long as it is Disney! I'm happy for you! I had a major serious crush on a close guy friend in college...and I was SURE he felt the same...but it never happened. It wasn't until years later when he came out of the closet that I found out why... Oh well. He's a great guy. Of course I did find my prince charming...and he's my best friend now, and a fellow Disney fiend.

Re: HELP!!!! Which Moderate Resort??? Congratulations! You can't go wrong with Port Orleans-Riverside (it will always be Dixie Landings to me). The grounds are beautiful and in the mansions you feel as if you are staying in a deluxe resort without the high price. We stayed there 2 years ago and are going back this November because we enjoyed it so much. In spite of the relatively large size of the resort, it is very quiet and peaceful. I really enjoyed going for early morning walks and watching the ducks on the river leading to Downtown Disney. The boats rides to DD are very relaxing as well. I think you would really enjoy staying here!

Re: HELP!!!! Which Moderate Resort??? Hi I'm 13 and I've been to WDW twice. I'm going again in Nov. with my mom and her friend, who are both Vickys, my little bro (oh no!!) and my friend, Katie. Anyways, I REALLY enjoyed Dixie Landings, which is a moderate resort. This year we're staying at the Alligator Bayou part instead of the plantation homes. So, in my opinion, Dixie Landings is a great place to stay!!

Re: HELP!!!! Which Moderate Resort??? Wow, what a great story - HUGE congrats on finding love where you least expected it Before DH and I were married, on our first trip to WDW together, we stayed at CBR and really loved it. As Disney Fan mentioned, it's very romantic to rock in a hammock together...we did that day and night. Our next trip was to the Coronado, where we got engaged - lots of romance there for us When we got married at the Pavilion, our guests stayed at the former Dixie Landings in the Mansion section and we thought it was just beautiful. Best wishes for a wonderful, romantic trip. Peace šoš
