Help, should I switch??

Hi, We have res. at Holiday Inn Family Suites off-site for 115 a night. I picked it
because we would have plenty of room to spread out. However, I could get a room at All-Star Movies for 59 a night... what should
I do? We are planning on renting a car regardless. We are going Oct 10-15. Are
E-nights definitely on Tue/Fri? We are not
going to be there on a Tues.. but E-night
would be a great to do.. Thanks for your input.

Re: Help, should I switch??

I would switch. Maybe you could get 2 connecting rooms and pay only slightly more.
Also, E-Rides are only for those staying a WDW resort, if my memory is correct.
And, there is just NOTHING like the Magic Staying of staying at a WDW hotel.
(of course, I have never stayed anywhere else while at the world)

Re: Help, should I switch??

IMHO I would switch. Get two rooms if you are worried about the room because the All Star rooms are small. Nothing can compare to staying on property! You must be on property to buy E-tickets. They are worth it. The food courts at the AS are a good choice for families.

Re: Help, should I switch??

The first time my husbandd and I went to WDW we stayed off site and the second time we went we stayed on site at the Wilderness Lodge and your vacation takes a totally different feel. You are always in the magic . I think it's worth being at a WDW resort and you'll get to enjoy early entrance to the park free parking instead of paying 6.00 a day to park if your off site and enjoy e-nights. As you can tell I love staying at WDW resorts I hope this helped. Also We will be up there at the same time Oct 9- Oct14th at the All Star Resort.
30 days to go!

P.S I just fiqured out if you were to rent two rooms at All star Resort at $59.00 a night that would be $118.00 a night for both rooms verses $115.00 a night at the Holiday Inn PLUS $6.00 a day for parking coming out to be $127.00 a night (w/ Parking) you save $9.00 a night ($45.00 total for 5 nights)and you don't have to deal with the traffic outside WDW property.

Hope any of this helps

Re: Help, should I switch??

I had reservations at All Star Sports in mid-Oct also for 59 dollars a night, however, I recently read about a 49 dollar code to get the same room at a reduced rate. I figured it was too good to be true but I called Disney mentioned the code COQ, which I'm told was a promotion in the August issue of Disney Insider? and got 7 nights of rooms changed to 49 dollars. With the tax reduction that works out to be almost 90 bucks. Check out mousesavers.com, they have alot of cool tips and info
See ya there.....Rick

Re: Help, should I switch??

This is a no-brainer for me - SWITCH! You will have a totally different experience by staying onsite. We've stayed offsite twice when reservations were not available onsite and we were miserable! Go for it - seems like it's hands down the thoughts of all the other posters, too!

Have fun!

Re: Help, should I switch??

Hi! Thanks for all the input. We are going to make the switch, but we are going to PO-RIverside for 99 a night. I think it will be better for us than All-Stars. My kids are
a little older...Still, it is less than before and we are on property... I'm still having a hard time giving up the rental car though.. I just like the freedom of having my own transportation and not having to wait. I guess I'm just not that patient - LOL

Re: Help, should I switch??

I don't think you will regret the switch to stay onsite.

We've never had a rental car for more than one day, but this trip we are going to rent a car. I don't think we'll use it for the parks, but we are planning on going to Hard Rock the last night and going to Universal Studios. By the time we add up the transportation to and from the airport to WDW and then Universal, it's about the same cost. And with a toddler, I would rather have the car.

If you are not planning on leaving WDW, then I'd say ditch the car. Disney's transportation is very reliable and convenient. If you plan on going elsewhere, then you might want to keep the car.

Either way, you'll enjoy yourselves onsite more than offsite.

Re: Help, should I switch??

I just have to know, have you switched yet?

I absolutely agree with everyone..SWITCH AND DO IT YESTERDAY!

There is definately a huge difference in staying off site vs. staying on site.

I hope you have a great vacation!!!

Lorielei - who is getting very impatient waiting for September 20th to arrive.

Re: Help, should I switch??

Hey kcfrew!! Welcome to the Boards. At last, another New Mexican.

I totally agree with everything everyone has said. SWITCH. PO-Riverside used to be Dixie Landings (am I right?) and it is absolutely BEAUTIFUL. It is where we stayed the first time. Buses were timely and the boat to Downtown Disney is great.

If you have any other concerns, e-mail me directly and we can talk.

Re: Help, should I switch??

WOw - you've chosen an even more spectacular resort - you won't regret it! You should still be able to rent a car and save with the rate you have - check into it. We always rent an automobile for our trips. Just worth it for the convenience alone!

Enjoy!
