| LOVED the Yacht Club Just got back from 9 days at WDW. The first half was spent at the Courtyard by Marriott at WDW--it was your basic Marriott, which was fine. Then we moved to the Yacht Club, which was WONDERFUL. My husband said that if we had gone there first we never would have left--he wouldn't have cared how much it cost. Where the Marriott was a hotel (not that that's bad) the YC was a resort--wonderful common areas, beautifully landscaped grounds, fabulous pool. As an added bonus, we had both the Boardwalk and Epcot a short walk away. We ended up spending one entire day just laying around the resort--I think you could spend a week there and not need to even venture into a park for entertainment. We are now completely hooked. A note about the Beach Club...when we drove past the BC I was thanking God that I had changed my reservation. If I had pulled in and seen that mess I would have gone ballistic. I'm currently working on-site at a commercial development in NJ and that is NOT what I want to see on vactation. The entire front of the resort is a big construction site. If you have the option, I would definitely check out another resort. |

| Re: LOVED the Yacht Club It's nice to read someone loved the YC. I HATED it when we stayed there back in July. It just felt more like a business class resort to me than a disney vacation resort and our room was 5 miles away from the lobby. I won't stay there again but can't wait to try Boardwalk!! | Re: LOVED the Yacht Club Gosh, that's the first really negative opinion I've heard about YC - we're considering staying there on our 2003 trip (I know that I'm planning WAY to far in advance, but...) Any other thoughts on this resort?!? |

| Re: LOVED the Yacht Club Steve, Let me clarify why I didn't enjoy the YC. First off, it was a beautiful resort but just not to my liking, I guess the reason for this is I had stayed at the WL the year before and fell so head over heels in love with that place, nothing else could measure up. We had a waterview room on the 4th floor which was a L-O-N-G way from the lobby....it was right by the single elevator and after a long day at the parks with massive blisters,it wasn't much fun trekking to the far reaches of the resort. The view wasn't fabulous either, we couldn't see the pool for the trees and only saw the shipwreck (slide) and just a small portion of the lake( our room was at a right angle to the lake). We were able to view illuminations at night but had to stand and lean to the far left of our balcony. The transportation by boat to MGM and Epcot were extremely convienent but I can't comment on the walk...we never did that. I guess our timing was perfect as we always hit the dock just in time for a ride. The bus transportation was at best OK, we did have several rude drivers, one of which shut the door in my face when I went up to ask where he was going. The CM at the bus stop was just as shocked as I was!! She gave us the drivers info and I called and logged a complaint against him. Totally uncalled for in my book but that's not the YC's fault. The staff at YC was very accomodating....Arnie, our bellman was the greatest. Housekeeping was ok but everyday, we found the hallways littered with dropped towels and gloves from the carts. Not the sort of thing I'd expect from a $200 p/night resort. Let's see, what else? Ohh the pool is not great (IMO), it's nothing more than several freeform pools placed together. But as a side note, that slide sure was fun. I came barreling down and hit the water sooner than I expected and of course had my mouth wide open yelling "Yahoooooo!!!" So, you can imagine the chlorine I swallowed LOL!! Maybe I'm being overly critical here but it just didn't float my boat, so to speak. Overall, we found the location to be highly desirable but it just didn't feel like vacation. I saw too many people in business suits and skirts giving me the impression of the "business class" hotel. I'm a WL fanatic here and REALLY enjoyed the warmth of the resort and that courtyard was gorgeous!! Disappointment set in from the beginning I guess. It just wasn't my WL Don't let my opinion stop you from trying it...it really is a pretty resort (if you like nautical theming) and the location to EPCOT and MGM is supreme. | Re: LOVED the Yacht Club We stayed at The Beach Club this last January and I absolutly LOVED IT. The proximity to both Epcot and MGM was perfect. I loved being able to walk to Epcot, and even in a pinch you could walk to MGM. The only place we had to take a bus to was MK. The pool was pretty cool. I think my kids had more fun than I did, but that is what it is all about. I guess you can't please everyone, but I was totally pleased with The Beach Club. We got some awesome prices when we went, that I don't think we will ever see again, so I doubt I will ever see BC again. Hope you go and enjoy it. Jennifer |

| Re: LOVED the Yacht Club Donna, thanks for the clarification - I have to admit that I was shocked as I've never heard a negative comment about the YC excpet that it's the Amway convention resort of choice - LOL! Maybe that's who you saw in the business suits! Anyway, thanks for your frank comments - I sooooooooo wish we could stay at the WL, but we have 5 people in our family and would need 2 rooms, so we need to head to some of the other Deluxe resorts . I thought that the kids would enjoy the pool at YC/BC which is why I was considering staying there next. I really appreciate your comments! I'd love to hear about the BW after you go! Thanks!
