Accomodations for a family of 6? My dh and I are planning a trip to WDW in October with our 4 kids. They are 6 and under. Any recommendations on the best place to stay with a group this large? Thanks!

Re: Accomodations for a family of 6? Welcome to the boards Cindy. I am also a mom to four and live in IL. How old our your kids? The first year we went to WDW, the twins were under three so we were able to stay in a deluxe resort. Now we stay at a moderate (CBR) in connecting rooms. We like having 2 bathrooms and when we would come back for breaks in the afternoon we would tell the kids go in their room and give us a 10 minute break. It worked out great.

Re: Accomodations for a family of 6? Onsite choices: Fort Wilderness Cabins sleep 6. The bedroom has bunk beds and a double bed. There is a pull down Murphy bed in the living area. This might work for your group. You can request bed rails for any of the beds for safety if needed. Otherwise, I agree with the above. Two connecting rooms at a resort (door between to connect rooms). They should guarantee the rooms connect because you only have two adults. Also, a Home Away from Home resort 2-bedroom (villa-style) accomodation would work for you.

Re: Accomodations for a family of 6? Wow, four children all under 6!!! Not knowing your budget, I agree with Hidden Mickey. Ft. Wilderness would be a nice choice for your family. There are many kid-themed things to do. Since the kiddos are under 6, a value resort (2 connecting rooms) might appeal to them. The large icons would be a nice visual stimulation for the kids, along with the colors, etc. You would definitely have room to spread out and the kids would be so excited! You might also be able to snag a discount, which is always nice.

Re: Accomodations for a family of 6? Since your children are so young, I would agree that an All-Star resort might be the best bet for the kids. You can get connecting rooms and they can run back and forth. The resorts are very kid-friendly. Having stayed at ASSports, ASMovies and ASMusic, my favorite is AS Movies!!

Re: Accomodations for a family of 6? We are a family of 6 also. Last time we went to WDW we got 2 rooms at Pop. 3 of our kids are teenagers so having the extra space was great. 2 bathrooms and 2 tvs made it all worth it.

Re: Accomodations for a family of 6? We are starting to plan our next trip! We stayed at the Wilderness Lodge last time and we are hooked. We would love to have two connecting rooms with a courtyard view. There will be six of us this time instead of three. Do you know of any discounts when you book more than one room?

Re: Accomodations for a family of 6? Welcome to the boards, Cindy! If you would like to save some money and like to make some of your own meals, I would say a home away from resort. We always stayed at Old Key West when the boys were younger. A 2 bedroom would be great for you. ALso a full kitchen, washer and dryer in room and grills by the pool! HAve fun! ![]()

Re: Accomodations for a family of 6? I would have to second connecting rooms at an All Star resort! Being another mom of 4, and having stayed at ASMO both trips, I can say that for us it was a good choice. 2 rooms give you privacy from the kiddies, but security that they're in hearing distance with the door cracked, 2 tv's, 2 bathrooms, and wonderful themeing for kids and adults alike! Depending on boys vs. girls then the Toy Story buildings or Dalmations are good. The Fantasias are good for both, but run prefered rooms so they cost more. You might also want to consider Sports if you have all boys, or maybe Music? I've heard good things about them both. The cabins seem to be good, as well as the home away from homes, but for cost, 2 rooms at the All Stars beat them both. Good luck and enjoy you trip, and the boards!! Ruth ![]()
