Re: Disney Vacation Club?? I think the only resort they're selling right now (other than resale) are the Beach Club Villas. We bought into DVC in 12/00. My in-laws have been members since 92 and we stayed in the villas several time with them. After staying there we were spoiled and could not imagine staying in a regular hotel room with our kids. We love WDW and knew we wanted to take our kids as often as possible, so we just looked at is as spending the majority of the money up front. The monthly dues payments just ended up being another bill that you get used to. Although we'll probably always use the points at WDW or on DCL, we like that you have the option of going other places also.

Re: Disney Vacation Club?? Hi, back again. My wife has needed the 'puter for some studying. Mouseplanet DVC info I believe that one of the off site locations also has points available through DVC. HH or VB, not sure. One thing to remember is to buy points at the resort you will go back to most often. You will have an 11 month booking window at your "home" resort as opposed to the 7 month window at non-home DVC resorts. If the resort you want is not available through Disney, then there is the resale market. What I did was read anything on the web I could on DVC. By the time we took the tour we already knew how the point and booking system worked.

Re: Disney Vacation Club?? I took a good look at the DVC back in February, and Iit was VERY tempting. If I were at a more certain point in my life and career, I probably would do it. The point system is really flexible, and the DVC resorts are great. BUT, the points don't save you much if you use them at regular Disney resorts, and I'm afraid my love affair with the GF and the Poly would be over if I wanted to get the most from the club.

Re: Disney Vacation Club?? We just bought in to DVC in April. We'll be taking our first trip as DVCers in October. I can't wait! Using your points at a DVC property is by far your most efficient use of points. Off all the places I would choose to buy in, it would be for the Beach Club. Stormalong Bay looks incredible and it's close to the Boardwalk (which we like to go to, but, transportation is the pits), and close to Epcot. We knew that we'd keep going back and why not pay now for 40 years of vacations. Your points won't go up, so I figure every year at Disney will get cheaper for us. Also, the accomodations are top notch. I think it is a great investment (not to mention the interest is deductible, I believe)! Take the tour when you go, it is only about an hour and there is NO pressure!

Re: Disney Vacation Club?? I was lucky enough to buy DVC back in 1992 and there is no doubt that it was the best money I have ever spent. My husband and I enjoy it so much that we bought more points through a resale in 2000 (OKW was long sold out) and enjoy even more trips now. We stayed at Villas Wilderness lodge last month and will be trying the new Beach Club Villas in November. The system is truly flexible. I met a couple last month who have made use of the concierge collection (non-disney sites) and they were full of praises. I have even used points to stay in Disneyland California and Disneyland Paris. What I like the best about it is when I come to the end of a trip and I know that i will be returning to my home from home before long

Re: Disney Vacation Club?? It takes a few hours to get the full tour. You might want to plan it on a non-park day if you're not using length of stay passes or an AP. If you're sure you want to buy you want to do it soon. I vaugely remember something in the packet we received about BC that a rate increase of $5 per point was scheduled this month. With a 150 point minimum it could save you $750! DVC also has a referral program. If you tell them one of your PassPorter friends referred you they get something special. I don't know what it is. We did not look into it as Texas RE law prohibits such a thing. Welcome Home Craig
