A question for all the Swan & Dolphin experts out there!

Hello!

My DH might be going to WDW in late Sept./early Oct. for a conference, of course this means that I MUST go too! WOOHOO!

I am wondering about these hotels since that is where the conference is located & I know nothing about them because I've never considered staying there! Do you have any preference between the two & if so can you share why you like one over the other?? Any tips about them in general would also be welcome!

Thank you all so much & please keep your fingers crossed for me that DH is "forced" to go!

Re: A question for all the Swan & Dolphin experts out there!

Both are very nicely decorated in a Tropical themed Florida atmosphere. There are numerous restaurants shared between the two hotels, and you are also within walking distance of Boardwalk and the Yacht & Beach Club. Not to mention Epcot, which is right in the backyard. This means you pretty much have limitless dining, entertainment and shopping opportunuties.

I'm not sure what kind of rate or package you got, and since you are traveling to the resort on business be aware that there is an $8 per day resort fee. This is to cover newspaper delivery, coffee service, etc...Also, you are not able to charge purchases to your room when staying at the Swan & Dolphin. This is a bit of an inconvenience for some, but not so bad if you plan ahead. Have a great time!

Re: A question for all the Swan & Dolphin experts out there!

Hi! Between the two hotels I prefer the Dolphin. It's lobby is far more impressive, and just the architecture of the hotel is pretty wild...being triangular and all. The Dolphin is where the actual convention facilities are (the meeting rooms) so it tends to be more crowded and "business" oriented than the Swan.

The location is great, it's a slightly further walk to the Boardwalk from the Dolphin compared to the Swan, but a slightly shorter walk to Epcot from the Dolphin. (We're talking just a 100 yards or so difference, maybe less.)

Never stayed at the Swan, but have explored the lobby, the restaurants and the gift shop...it is definitely more "low key" than the Dolphin.

Hope that helps!

Re: A question for all the Swan & Dolphin experts out there!

The Dolphin definitely has the nicer lobby.
You can ask for a Studios View or Epcot View.
I onlt stayed once and had a view of the Studios, would have loved to had a view of Epcot on a higher floor.
Tubby's is a cafeteria type eating place in Dolpin. 24 hour servie. Krispy cream.
Also, dolphin has a great ice-cream shop and Characetr breakfast.
The only thing I like in the Swan is the Palio Restaurant.

You get 20% off resturants using Disney Club card.

Re: A question for all the Swan & Dolphin experts out there!

Thank you all very much for the information, it is really appreciated!

We have stayed at the BC a number of times so I know what the area is like but we have never even visited these 2 resorts so I had no idea what to expect.

Hopefully everything will work out & we can get the Dolphin since at least 2 of you prefer this resort!

Thank you again!
