Hi marieja and welcome !! If you have five and want to be on the monorail you'd probably want to stay at the Poly. I'm gonna go into Jean's Travel Forum and bump the posts up regarding codes.......

Check the codes for the Contemporary too. I know it has rooms for 5 and at one time had rates at $134/night.

Re: Where to Stay - I\'m new to this

The best advice is to check out the travel agent section of the boards. There is a lot of help in there.
Just keep in mind that the Monorail resorts are more expensive. The Poly or the Contemporary would be your best bets.
As for the codes, they do save you a ton of money. My DW(dear wife) and I used some codes for our 10th wedding anniversary trip in Nov. and we saved buko $$$'s!

Re: Where to Stay - I\'m new to this

I'd say deffinitely get all your info to PassPorter's very own Jean at Your Magical Journeys who can give you the best advice on the outlook for coded rates for the dates you're thinking about (the standard 2003 rates for all the resorts are up at the site). You'll find testimonials to Jean all over these boards and they're spot on. After reading all the good press she gets we booked with her this year and were very glad we did.

Where to Stay - I\'m new to this

Hi there. I need some help determining where to stay. We have two adults and three children and a somewhat limited budget. A hotel within the monorail system is critical and we would like to stay in one room. I had planned on the Port Orleans until I just realized it's not on the monorail.

Also, everyone is talking about codes. I'm assuming travel discount codes?? Any info on these would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Re: Where to Stay - I\'m new to this

First let me add my WELCOME!

Second I agree with all of the above. I have not used Jean personally as a travel agent, but she has provided excellent advice on the board and as always been great at answering my questions.

We stayed at PO-R this summer and the bus system was excellent. We didn't wait for a bus ever. We also used the monorail to eat at those resorts and to travel back to MK or EPCOT.

So, if you need to go with PO-R, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Re: Where to Stay - I\'m new to this

If you are renting a car or driving, I would recommend renting a house or a condominium. We rented a condo from All-Star vacation, I found the web site on Debs site. We had three bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a full kitchen and living/dining room. It was great. It was also very close to the main entrance to Disney. We have stayed with Disney at the All-Star Sports, Poly. and the Beach Club. The All-Star was inexpensive but rather small.I know that this is a "disney" site, but the comfort of staying in a condo or house can't be beat. Oh, I forgot in January the rate for the condo was around 139.00 or so. Still it was really worth it. Hope this helps!

Re: Where to Stay - I\'m new to this

My fiance and I stayed at POR last May and had the BEST time. It was such a wonerdul resort and very romantic and cozy. We requested Building 14 but ended up getting Building 17 and we weren't at all disppointed. We were only about a 5 minute walk from the bus depot, lobby, gift shop and food court. Plus the hotel has such a nice atmosphere. It is a really great place to stay and I highly recommend it! Also, the bus system was very good, except for the long waits at the parks since 2 hotels were using the same busses. Other than that you should be happy with your stay!

Re: Where to Stay - I\'m new to this

Couple things to add: The Contemporary Garden Wing rooms are generally slightly cheaper than the Poly (and the rooms reputedly slightly larger); at both resorts you can get two double beds plus a daybed. Also, whether you want to use an agent or not, check out www.mousesavers.con, where you can learn how the discount codes work, what's available and when. Good luck!

If you are truly on a budget, then one of the monorail hotels may not be within your limits. The bus transportation at the other resorts is quite good (and you'll be using buses if you got to MGM, Animal Kingdom, or the water parks no matter where you stay). I'd say go for your first choice of the Port Orleans-Riverside resort. The bayou rooms fit 5 with the trundle bed and are your best choice for price with your size family. Do check out Mousesavers as mentioned above. That is the perfect place to find any kind of deal at WDW. -HiddenMickey

Re: Where to Stay - I\'m new to this

marieja -- First of all...welcome!!!

Secondly, I agree with mattjs....email Jean and have her help plan your trip. We have used her twice and saved tons! (It costs you nothing to go through her...she gets a small commission from Disney!)

That being said, I would also think about what parks you are going to spend the most time at. If your children are small and you plan to be mostly at the Magic Kingdom, then a monorail resort might be what you want. But be prepared that these are more expensive than some others.

BUT....since the monorail really just connects you to the MK, you might find staying somewhere else might be better for your budget. The bus system is not bad at all...just allow plenty of time to get where you want to go, and you will be fine.

Let Jean know what you are looking for, what your budget will allow, and she will find the BEST thing for you!!!

Have fun and let us know where you end up staying!
