Swan or CBR

If you had a choice, which would you choose and why? Swan, deluxe and a great rate, and non-disney, or CBR, moderate great rate (AP)all disney. Thanks

Re: Swan or CBR

Definitely CBR! We loved our stay there and they have the BEST Mousekeeping! We were scheduled on the November 30th Eastern Caribbean cruise that was cancelled and accepted the option of staying at the Dolphin. YUCK! We are spoiled by Disney-owned resorts, regardless of deluxe, moderate, etc they are ALWAYS well maintained. The Swan & Dolphin have YET to be renovated since their opening some twenty odd years ago. We are used to smiling happy (for the most part) CMs that say hello first. You practically have to chase them down at the other. If you stay at CBR you may take advantage of the resort delivery option which you can't do at S & D. If you use AMEX you don't get the White Glove Treatment at S&D that you would get at CBR.

The reasons for staying at CBR are endless! Feel free to email or PM me for more information.

Re: Swan or CBR

having just returned from the dolphin, i would choose the swan unless it was being compared to a deluxe disney resort. as you state, the swan is not a disney resort, and it was evident in the service we received at the dolphin. however, the location is unreal! we were on the 15th floor of the central triangle in the dolphin and our room looked out on MGM and Epcot--we could watch the fireworks each night from our room. One day while my wife and daughter were napping, I decided to wander around a bit. After meandering down the Boardwalk (which is great) I stumbled upon the Intl. Gateway to Epcot. I cannot describe the feeling of strolling into Epcot with no planning. This may not make sense, but if you stay at the Dolphin or Swan you'll understand. If I can help anymore, let me know.

Re: Swan or CBR

For the record, the Swan & Dolphin are not twenty years old. I believe they opened in '88 or '89. On our last visit, everything was very nice and there was no evidence of wear-and-tear anywhere in either of the resorts. Comparing them with the Carribean Beach is like apples and oranges .

Re: Swan or CBR

We stayed at the Dolphin in December and there were several broken tiles in the bath as well as a few that fell out while we were there. We usually stay at WDW resorts and were appauled at the way we were treated as compared to the CMs at WDW resorts.

There is no way we would ever stay anwhere but a WDW resort down there.
