Annimal Kingdom Lodge & Wilderness Lodge

Alright, we need your help PassPorters!! We are planning our 2004 (my 30th birthday ) trip. The thought was to stay five days at AKL and five days at WL. We love WL and especially love the fact its so close to MK. I have been trying to convince DH to stay at AKL and he finally saw a picture of the lobby and was amazed. So if we stay at AKL, what's our best area to view the animals from our balcony?? Anyone have an awesome room that wouldn't mind sharing the number? Thanks for your help!

Re: Annimal Kingdom Lodge & Wilderness Lodge

Hi Jessi,

I stayed in room 2407 at AKL this last September. I had a good veiw but not great. I think the rooms on the third floor would have a better veiw. I was looking at the room numbers when I was there. I noted that the odd numbered rooms on the Zebra Trail were facing the Arusha Rock Savanna. I did not notice the room numbers on any of the other room trails. I hope this helps.

Happy planning, Bobšoš

Re: Annimal Kingdom Lodge & Wilderness Lodge

We stayed at AKL in April and it has become our favorite resort. We had the first room after the elevator that goes to the pool on the 4th floor. Can't remember the name of it but it was the first smoking room on the Zebra Trail. The view was awsome. We were able to see two plains, one was sunset and can't remember the other. We are going back in December and have asked for a room in the same area. I thought the fourth floor was really nice and liked being off the main thourgh fair for the exit to the lobby. Another nice thing is there is so many view spots along the hallways and on the outside of the resort that there is always something different to see on each venture out of your room.

Re: Annimal Kingdom Lodge & Wilderness Lodge

When we stayed at the AKL, we had what I called the "perfect room". It was room #3429. It was on the lobby level, close to the elevator that drops you right by the pool, laundry and food court. The view was absolutely spectacular!! We had a wonderful view of Arusha rock as well as a great view across the savanna. No one in my family was very excited about staying at AKL, but after our stay they can't wait to go back. Hope you have a great trip!

Re: Annimal Kingdom Lodge & Wilderness Lodge

Jambo,

Earlier this month, we were at the AKL and were in room 2115--it was fabulous. One of the giraffe feeding bins was attached to a tree at about eye level (standing on the balcony) approximately thirty-forty feet into the savannah. The Ankole (sp?) cows seemed to bed the furthest away from our room, but they grazed past at least once per day. Every morning, the Wildebeast and Eland would mosey past our balcony offering great photo ops. To give you an idea of how close the Eland came (I think it was the Eland, however, this may not be the animal that displayed this behavior), you could here the tendons "popping" in the males' knees as they passed the room. This room was also very close to the "Mara" without being so close as to be noisy. Anyway, I would think that any room at this resort will offer its own unique magic to your stay.
