How often do they redesign refillable mugs? About This Page:

Hey AKL lovers... just wondering if they've updated the resort's refillable mugs lately? We were there last November and are returning this November. I'm hoping we don't have to buy the same exact mugs we bought last year! Does Disney update the designs from year-to-year? Anywhere to get a sneak peak?

at allears they have a list of what the mugs look like and where you can find them availible for purchase. Though there are no pictures attached. I don't know how recent they are though the wilderness mug sounds like the one we have that we bought last year.

We were at AKL in August and the mugs were identical to the ones we bought the year before. I don't think they've changed at all.

I've seen very little change in them over the years.

They've changed the Pop Century design already since it's opened. I don't recall seeing any other changes recently.

I heard it was an annual affair now for most sites. They may keep the design but change the color on top and on the handle. That way WDW can detect an old mug easily. I also heard that they will move to a standard Disney Vacation Club mug to simplify things in that arena.

I'm pretty sure the AKL mugs haven't changes since they opened. The ones I got in 2001 look like the ones they are using now.

The Contemporary mugs are also EXACTLY the same mugs - no lettering on them (saying it is only for that stay) - same wide mouth mugs only - same purple or red handle and top.

Same here. I haven't seen any changes at any of the resorts
we've stayed in the past few years.

Our Contemporary mugs are the wide mouth ones, but the handle and top are the same color as the mug - silver.

Cool - when did you buy those Don?

We bought some in March 2002, and they were still selling the exact same red or purple topped ones - no silver - when we went a few weeks ago (Sept 1-5, 2005)!

I'd love to get a new color - I'm really bored with the red/purple ones, AND I wish they would come out with the travel mug size! They are so much better to use at home!

We bought a refillable mug at Vero Beach Resort earlier this month. It has the symbols on it for Vero (turtle), Hilton Head (lounge chair), Old Key West (lighthouse) and Saratoga (horseshoe) similar to those found in the Vacation Magic publication. It has a blue lid and handle, the year 2005 and Mickey, Pluto and some other characters on it.

We have mugs from all of our resort stays, but since they are all different resorts I can't compare them. The one thing I did notice is that all of them have the year on them.
The ones from ASMU has really large numbers, ASMO very small numbers.

Okay, just got back from AKL! We bought new mugs there.
I have two from April 2003. The only differences are: new AKL mug it says Free refills until the end of your stay, Refills only at location purchased. Also, there is no Coca-Cola logo like there is on my old ones.
