renting DVC points???

Has anyone ever done this?
I am looking into renting points for Dec. 1-4 rather than staying off-site these days. We would need at least a studio and a 1 br would be nice. I'm not picky about the resort, any would be fine.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Here is the link to the DVC reantl board on Disboards
Rent points

It may be too late now to rent points for this December. I would think that you're points are probably banked by now or very soon (ours need to be banked within the next month) plus there are some kind of owner's meetings the first 2 weeks of december. I would get on it soon.

Re: renting DVC points???

I just checked and there is some availability, but not much. Just wondering if anyone has ever done this before. It seems like such a great way to stay in a wonderful place for a more reasonable price.

Re: renting DVC points???

There are a lot of people (not me - yet!) that have done this. Just remember that you are dealing with a private transaction and Disney can't help you if something happens from what I understand. I like to believe that anyone who is crazy about Disney is honest and would never intentionally do anything unethical. I haven't heard many reports at all about anyone being unhappy with renting points, so it must be pretty good. Hopefully one of our DVC members will chime in. You might want to post this on the DVC board too.

Re: renting DVC points???

I would agree with ladyt - it's worth posting this question in the DVC forum as well, as you're more likely to find people who've rented out points in the past. We're DVC members, but had never had any spare points to rent out - I don't see that changing in the near future either.

Re: renting DVC points???

I've rented points the last 4 or 5 trips and its always worked out- the last few times its been form the same woman who has been great to work with. For my Nov/Dec trip, she reserved BWV and then wait listed BCV for me. It is probably too late for this Dec though-

Re: renting DVC points???

On the disboards you should be able to find someone that has a ressie already. I am in the process of renting points for next Nov trip. This is my first time doing so.It is sure is cheaper. We will be renting a 2 bedroom villa and a studio at VWL for one week at $2736.00.

Make a post on the disboards for what you are looking for and I am sure you will get replies. I would say you would pay around $10 a point. If you go on mousesavers they give you a break down of how many points you would need for the type of room you need. I can not remember the link but if you visit the dvc board here click on the sticky post that says "websites for dvc info" you will find it there. That is how I read about renting points.

Good Luck
Erica

Renting points can be a great thing - I see you've posted a request on the Disboards which is a great start. Let me know if I can answer any specific questions.
