Oh well, we could probably use the exercise anyway.
<font size="2" face="Comic Sans MS, Arial">Yes, you actually have to cross a street, and the street you cross is the one the buses use to take you around to the parks! It was a very nice section, but way, way too far out for us. Many nights when we arrived back at the room, the thought of walking all the way over to Old Port Royale for a snack or drink was just plain daunting. I dont' remember how long it took us (neither of us is an athlete!) but all I know was it was too long. It's the only village I would definitely NOT want to stay in.

Re: Caribbean Beach Resort

One other BIG perk to CBR -- there's a privacy curtain between the sleeping area and the sinks. That way, someone can be in the bathroom/sink area while the others get a few more ZZZZZZs.

Re: Caribbean Beach Resort

We stayed at CBR in 2001. We loved it! Jamaica was an excellent choice. I know someone has already said that it can be the last stop for the buses, but during our stay it was the first stop in the AM making finding a seat a breeze and the first stop coming home in the evening so the kids did not have to be crammed in too long.

The rooms were great and the staff was very professional. We celebrated 5th birthday for my DS while we were there and the staff made it a very special birthday. Mickey even showed up while we were at the parks to leave a signed birthday card and a cake.

We would absolutly return!

Re: Caribbean Beach Resort

Hi
You will love CBR. We have stayed there 3 times and were dissapointed last Nov. when we had to stay somewhere else due to refurb. (But we found Riverside to be great too, hey come on it is Disney )

CBR is so colorful, landscaping great and the rooms are bigger than some of the other resorts. You will have a great time I am sure.

We also enjoyed watching the fireworks from Epcot some nights that we got back early.

Have a great time. Don't worry about the resort it is a good choice.

Hi! While I'm not new to the PassPorter I am new to these message boards and just wanted to thank all who replyed to the original poster. I too am staying at CBR for the first time in September and had read some negative posts. You all have reassured me that I will indeed have a great time (as usual)! Thanks, Lori

Re: Caribbean Beach Resort

Hi!

I was wondering if any of you requested a specific island ahead of time? And did you get the island you requested?

I'm going to be staying at the CBR in September. I booked my trip through travelocity. I called today to request a smoking room in Trinidad North (I think that's building 31).

I'm just wondering how likely it will be that I'll be put there.

Thanks!

<font size="2" face="Comic Sans MS, Arial">We requested Trinidad North or Martinique and got TN. Seems like everyone requests Martinique so we figured our best bet of getting our request was to have TN first.

Re: Caribbean Beach Resort

when I spoke with the girl at travelocity, she said "everyone requests those two" (referring to trinidad north and martinique).

I wont mind if we get put somewhere else. I'd just prefer to be closer to everything. I figure, when I'm hanging around the resort, I'll want to relax as much as possible!

Re: Caribbean Beach Resort

Moviegirl11, if I'm not mistaken, the smoking buildings are Martinique 21, Trinidad North 31 and Aruba 51, or something like that. To my knowledge, those are the only buildings that permit smoking. We lucked out with TN31, very close to Old Port Royale and the bus stop, but we were frequently at the end of the line for bus pickups. Everything is a trade-off. We would have been very happy with whatever smoking building they assigned us, as long as it wasn't Trinidad South!

Re: Caribbean Beach Resort

Hello,

Actually, you don't have to cross a street from Trinidad South - there is a walkway along the water that goes under the street (which also happens to be a great place to spot some of the rather large turtles that live there).

We stayed in Trinidad South. We are very fit and I walk 4.2 miles every day during my lunch break at work (in an hour). It took all of 10 minutes to walk (at a leisurely pace) from our room in Trinidad South to the food court in Old Port Royal. In the morning one of us would walk to go get coffee, and it was very peaceful and a nice way to start the day - lots of tropical birds singing, ducks swimming, geckos gecko-ing, calm water, beatiful landscaping and flowers - awesome.

Our pool was almost always not used, we were the only ones in it.

Bus service was great, we were usually the first to get picked up, almost always. And we got to sit where ever we wanted.

I think where ever you stay in CBR, you will love it.

Enjoy!
