What is your greatest fear?
Mine is bridges - especially those over large bodies of water - has been for at least the last eight years. (Didn't even realize I had this fear until our first trip to WDW when we drove through Jacksonville, FL. THAT was awful. ) I don't know why or when it started for me back then, but the bridge collapse this week was especially horrifying for people like me with Gephyrophobia (fear of crossing bridges). Walt was watching the news this morning and the bridge collapse was still the top story. I've been avoiding the coverage for a reason - I actually started to shake watching the news footage this morning. Walt was horrified because he forgot about my 'bridge-thing' as he calls it and changed the channel, apologizing profusely.
I'm usually okay on bridges. Walt remembers most of the time and tries to distract me and engage me in conversation while we're approaching and crossing the bridge. I think he prefers the talking over the ritual of me closing my eyes and mumbling prayers all the way across the bridge. Makes him nervous, too.
Abduction. When I was a kid I was afraid I would be abducted, and now as an adult, I am terrified that my children will be abducted.

I have a few greatest fears - tornados, heights and walking over grates are probably my biggest phobias. Although I may have conquered the walking over (shallow) grates thing when I was in Churchill because all the public places have grates over shallow pits in front of their doors to keep the snow from tracking inside. I think I'd still have a heck of a time walking over the grate in a grain elevator though (where the grain goes when the truck is dumping it).
Water.
It is such a natural and unpredictable force. Especially flying or driving over water. "In the event of a water landing, you can use your seat cushion as a flotation device." Yea, in the event of a water landing - AND you are still alive!!!! Yet I love cruising. I'm terrified, but enjoy it.

Wow. Everyone has legitimate fears, and I'm afraid that mine are just well...silly. But here goes - Aliens and Zombies. I love horror movies; Unsolved Mysteries was one of my favorite shows, but any time Aliens are involved (in a scary way) with something, I genuinely freak out. The remake of Dawn of the Dead gave me nightmares for weeks! There's just something about these "creatures" and the seemingly irrational way that they deal with humans that really bothers me.
Another thing that I really hate is centipedes/millipedes. Spiders don't bother me, but anything with that many legs is unnatural.
I don't tell anyone about my greatest fear! But here it goes! I'm afraid of drinking out of a water fountain and someone bumping my teeth out on the spigot! I have a general fear of getting my teeth knocked out. I think it comes from when we were kids. A neighbor girl was walking on a slick wet carport and drinking out of a glass coke bottle. She fell forward and busted off both of her front teeth into the bottle. It still makes me weak in the knees to think about it.
I also have the fear of heights, but like jimmymac I love roller coasters!
I also don't like horror/zombie type movies, or true-life-story shows (48 Hours, etc) about terrible violent crimes...but I don't know if I would call it a "greatest fear" because still find myself watching them from time to time - just usually have nightmares after.
One of my children being injured or dying.
I've already made it through Samantha's spinal cord injury, and know that emotionally I'd never make it through another one like that!
And, since Samantha almost died so many times that we lost track, and Kathryn had quite a few documented episodes of Sleep Apnea as a baby, I've always been worried that one of my kids will die before me.
