| I started taking lessons when I was 6 at the pool in the neighborhood where we lived. I took it for about 3 summers in a row. The University I work for offers Red Cross swimming lessons at the pool on campus and that is what Macy has taken. She completed level 6 last summer so she basically has 6 years of lessons (and swims like a fish) along with boating safety and very basic first aid. It is a great program. |

| I had mommy and me lessons when I was 9 months old, but nothing after that. We had a 2 week swim unit in junior high P.E. class where I had to join the "non-swimmers" to learn basics . . . and it evidently either didn't stick or I just was too much of a scaredy cat, because I had to do it AGAIN when I went to boot camp before I could take my swim qualification test. ![]() I learned how, but was so scared that I forgot all about how to tread water after I jumped (or rather flapped my arms thinking I could fly) off the 12 foot high platform into the water. ![]() I could probably swim if I had to, but I don't like to. DD has never had lessons . . . and she's only ever swam in 4 foot of water or less. Anything more and she has arm floaties on. We'll probably look into getting her lessons next summer or something. ![]()

| I learned in the lakes in Northern Saskatchewan in July shortly after the ice melts off the water. Then I learned about hypothermia. I started out with Red Cross swimming lessons, then we moved on to Royal Life Saving Society lessons. I'm one badge below my Lifeguard qualification. I prefer just to play in the water rather than swim, but it's good to know that I know how.

| My sisters and I took lessons at the local MDC pool - I think I was about 7 (I started the month after we went to WDW with my parents in the 70's - I remember that!). I love to swim, but hate to wear a bathing suit now (I think DH has seen me in one three times!)

| I don't remember not knowing how to swim either. I learned at a private swim school in the city where I grew up. Took Saturday lessons for years, and still love to swim! My oldest learned through a combination of Y and Rec Center lessons, and the two youngest took infant swim research lessons at a friend's backyard pool. It was the best investment I've ever made. All three of my kids are fish.
