| Central A/C is a wonderful thing! After 21 years in this house we finally installed it- just finished less than 2 weeks ago.. This house becomes unbearable in the summer heat. This Northeast heat wave has really put it to the test and we are really happy with it!

| That was one really important feature for when we bought our house 13 years ago. Sure we get temperatures of 40 below in the winter, but we also can hit 100 in the summer.

| We need to get ours either fixed or replaced. It was leaking water all over the basement mid-way through the summer last year, so I just bought 2 window units for our bedrooms. I thought I would like the central air when we bought the house, but I find that the air in the house starts to feel stale after long stretches of having to keep it on. The 2 window units make the upstairs (we're in a raised ranch) bearable during the day and perfect for nighttime sleeping. I'm afraid that we are going to need the new unit, but have nothing to base that on, as no one has even looked at it yet! If we do need a new unit, I hope it's not outrageous to replace!!

| Grew up without it. I like it, but I could do without it. Maybe that's why we used to play outside so much - no use staying in if we were going to be hot anyway!! (and who doesn't love sheet and fan "tents"?)

| At the moment we can't do without it. Years ago, when Dad realized that the single-pane windows were not very effective at keeping the cold out in the winter, he installed what I call "inside storm windows" - a.k.a. plastic sheets that are almost glued in place. Having taken care of the cold issue, he didn't seem to care that the windows were now unable to be opened! So I live in a sealed house, with no way to open a window and create a breeze. Ugh! I'm beginning to think that new windows are a must! (But the AC is a must, too! Love those open windows, but love that AC during times of no breezes!) |

| On days like these, I wish we had it! But, with a 6 room ranch, the window unit, believe it or not, does a decent job of keeping the house relatively cool (oh, and with a ceiling fan in the family room and my bedroom).

| I wish we had some on the really hot days here - unfortunately it costs a fortune to install over here, I guess partially because it's not very common.
