| Are there really that many teachers? Today most of the public schools started with teacher in-service week, next week the kids go back to school. The highway I commute is very busy during the school year but not bad during the summer. In the summer, traffic never comes to a halt in the morning but this morning it was stop and go for almost half of my commute. During the summer, I get 19 -19.5 mpg in my SUV during the school year only 17. It's hard to believe that school opening can affect traffic that much!

| I can't believe that either. The highway I commute is very congested, except during summer. I too, get better gas mileage. I think the NJ kids don;t go back until after labor day, so I have another week (hopefully),

| It's the mamas driving their precious babies to school - we have to, since there is no bus for my kids' school. I know a lot of people who don't for one of two reasons: 1. Baby can't be on the school bus. He might be injured in an accident 2. Baby can't be on the school bus. She doesn't like it.

| You forgot the HS juniors and seniors that are "too cool" to ride the bus. No, they don't have any after-school activities. They are just entitled. |

| That's amazing that just the teachers going back today would make that much of a difference!

| I think that the traffic jam was caused by teachers driving really slowly in order to put off returning to inservice days. ( I would rather floss the cat's teeth then have teacher inservice training.)

| Today was the students' first day here, and I could not believe how much more congested I-4 was. ( I get on at Champions Gate and take Connor to his sitter right off of Osceola Parkway). It was waaay too early for Mousegestion (a word a co-teacher came up with for traffic headed towards WDW) I kept thinking the same thing- how many parents/kids need to use I-4? Evidently, alot!!

| It's not just the teachers, it's the parents driving their kids to schools that make the most difference. I can't believe how lovely and quiet it is on the roads over here during the school holidays.

| That is amazing to me since around here most kids ride the school bus. I was in the minority driving DD to school when she was in elementary school. I hod to, however, since I chose to send her to a school which wasn't our neighborhood elementary school. By the time she got to high school, we were only six blocks from the school. She could take the bus if she got up early enough, but most days she got a ride from a friend. I remember her calling me at work one day wondering how she was going to get to school since she had gotten up too late for the bus, and the friend who usually gave her a ride was sick or something like that. I suggested that she walk. ![]()

Oh, Robin, I know what you mean. How many times do you need to watch protein spill and how to give meds---the list could go on and on but every year we have to endure and sign off. I really wish they would give us the information we really need.
