Back from Disneyland/Vegas trip(jetblue is awesome BTW)
we just got back last night around 11pm.. Not really feeling up to writing a TR,because I know I wont have time to finish it..lol
Just wanted to share a little about our experience for anyone who may be considering a DL trip..
We drove to NY and stayed at the Holiday Inn.. I know I posted before, but let me stress this- Dont bother with this hotel..the service here and the room itself, was disgusting. They ruined our trip..I will get to exactly how bad in a minute
We flew out of JFK at 8am. We used jetblue for the 1st time, and let me tell you- the ease of check in was, well...easy!I enjoyed our flight, we had unlimited snacks and drinks and watched TV, So the flight went very quickly.
We arrived at LGB airport, again- super easy. Got our rental though Avis(I guess I got a better rate than I remembered.. $210 from the 7/2-7/9 pick up in LGB and drop off in vegas. We picked up our bags and within 20min of landing we were on the road to Disneyland!!!
The drive was extremely short, I think 15 minutes- we had no traffic and we arrived at Grand Californian!! It was beautiful. The CM escorted us upstairs for checkin. We stayed Concierge, and it was so worth it! We used every single benefit of concierge level. The kids used the pool, 2-3 times a day and the entire stay here was memorable. I loved it and want to go back NOW!
We did the touristy stuff, went to Hollywood, ate at the Disney Soda Fountain, used my last 40bucks in cash. and went up to see the hollywood sign.
This is where Holiday inn screwed us bad. I went to park and had to pay 2bucks in the machine and my card was declined. I was like...ummm, I dont have 2 bucks on my card??
I called the number on my visa..the ONLY card I brought. I guess the hotel charged my card, then charged again and then there was an auth. for another charge. Over $1000 tied up. I was so mad. I only brought one card to make sure we didnt over spend. Then my debit card wouldnt work. The strip wouldnt swipe, so I had no money and it was a holiday weekend, and the banks were closed.
We had a good time, on minimal funds. Thank god for the disney birthday gift cards for me & caty.
We had to cancel most of our ressies.
Although we did eat at Goofys kitchen and storytellers cafe and charged those to our room and hoped that the card issue would be resolved. Thankfully it was!
I cant say this enough... we had a great time!!!! The waits for the rides were quick and the rides were so much longer! I loved Disneyland. In my opinion, if there was an Epcot..EE ,test track & spaceship earth..I wouldnt even need to to Disneyworld..LOL
It was so easy to get around, and the weather...OMG BEAUTIFUL!!! I had great hair days everyy day! LOL
We had to leave on the 7th. The kids woke up, put on their swimsuits and swam one last time.. They had the pool all to themselves
we drove to vegas.. The drive was nice, it was a little under 4hrs. We stayed at the planet Hollywood. Checkin was not very quick, there was a long line. It was a nice hotel, in the middle of everything..not too bad..But the heat..ewww...too much for me. I stayed in my room the whole time. It was like opening an oven and having it blow right in your face. I am all set with that..LOL
We gambled a tiny bit, We spent 80, then I won 40 and the next day the same thing, except we spent 80 and DH won 40. Then the day we left he put $1 in and we won 6bucks..LOL
