| Wise Man Many years ago a wise old Indian chief was fishing with his young grandson. During the day, they spoke about many things . . .the chief's boyhood, how things had changed during his life, the people he had known and the choices he had made.
At one point the grandson asked, "Grandfather, how did you come to be so wise?"
The chief replied that his whole life he had felt as if
two wolves had lived inside of him. One wolf was evil, jealous, envious,
selfish, angry, impatient, quick to judge, destructive, and only had
negative traits. The other wolf, however, was good, kind, generous,
selfless, patient and only possessed positive traits. Within him, he
felt the wolves constantly fighting.
After a long pause, the grandson asked the obvious question, "Well Grandfather, which wolf won?"
Looking at his grandson, the chief replied, "The one I fed." |
