Yard Fun!!

So, I've always let DH handle the yards. Sometimes, about 3 times a summer, I'll mow the grass. I will plant flowers, etc, but only after he's prepared the beds (to my specifications).
Well, I'm bucking that trend!! I've spent the last two days getting the yard ready for seed (still got about 3 days of work to do until we can easily plant seed). I've staked out a vegetable garden area and I will be doing the tilling, etc!!

AND - just now, I spent an hour with the leaf blower, getting the leaves out from under the deck, out of my flower beds, etc. That was FUN! I LOVE doing the leaf blower!!

I don't like the noise, and my hands are still tingly - but it was so fun!

So - at your home, who does the yard work, the gardening, etc? And, if you do anything is it because you like to or have to?

My DH generally does the yard work (mowing, raking, etc.) with the exception of trimming the azaleas and other large bushes because I love my electric hedge trimmer! LOL I feel like Leatherface or something (but in a good way). When we lived in AL and had a bunch of land, I would mow the lawn about every other time (about 2 1/2 of our acres were cleared and needed to be mowed - with our push mower!). I kept that up until I came across a 4 1/2 - 5 ft long grey rat snake. That was the last time I mowed.

Well we have a lawn guy who does the mowing but we do everything else like
planting, seed/weed stuff and etc. When we built the house we did the lawn
ourselves but it took us the whole weekend. Our lawn guy does it in 30 minutes.
I couldn't believe it!!! My DH helps but if it was up to him we would just have
bushes and nothing that needs much work.

DH does the mowing and any heavy work. I do pretty much everything else, as I'm the gardener in the family.

When it comes to mowing the yard, I leave that to my DH. I've tried my hand at gardening, but I can't keep anything alive. Plus, I work crazy hours in the summer, so I don't have the time for it.

DH mows the lawn and does the edging. I plant and weed here and there. My mother is the big gardener. She can stay in the yard for hours and hours. I only go out and garden when I have to. We also have TrueGreen come out to treat the lawn and it has made a huge difference.

I've never thought of putting "yard" and "fun" in the same sentence.
Truth be told, we're the kind of folks who should have bought a condo.

I mow the lawn. We don't plant much but this year I want to make a border next to my walk with flowers and solar lights.

Luke does the lawn work and helps me plant the flower beds, but then I do all the tending (weeding, pruning, etc.).

I mow the front lawn with a push mower and DH does the back yard (much larger) with a riding mower. I actually like to mow the lawn! We plant together. Everything else he and our sons do.
