And I don't like it one bit! I saw it scurry across the floor last night when I was heading to bed. I'm not a huge fan of mice, so I'm trying to avoid the kitchen. I've suspected there was a mouse since we moved in, but up until last night, I had never seen it. I guess tomorrow night I will be buying some traps and getting them the heck out of here.
Don't do humane traps. Unless you intend to drive that sucker for a bit, it'll just come back. I know, it's gross, but killer traps are best. No bait, either - dead mouse in wall = stink like you've never smelled before!!
Hope you get rid of it soon and it has no friends!!
We had one in the house once. Saw it just as we were heading out to the cottage. Hubby put some traps out and when we came back, there it was, dead in the trap thank goodness. I don't like mice in my house....creeps me out!!!!
I won't be visiting any time soon. I HATE mice. Don't put out poison, use traps. If you use poison, they die in your walls and the smell is disgusting.
Snap traps are the best. Cat might not work to much. My cat loves to drop live mice in bed with me and then chase them under the covers. Nasty little buggers.
We came home to find a mouse on Christmas Eve. My parents set traps in the basement and killed 5 in total. They also found their nest a month ago while cleaning out boxes. There's never just one. They did well with snap traps set with peanut butter on them.

I'd send you Caesar to get rid of your mouse but he is too lazy! Dug and Jack, on the other hand, would get that mouse for you in a heart beat! Dug's a great tracker, you know.
I've got the same problem, but out in the garage. I walked out there the other day to find it on top of my DH's car. I screamed and it just stared at me for a few seconds then ran away. We will be setting plenty of traps.
My brother recommends making one of the 5 gallon bucket traps. You can find lots of DIYs on YouTube. They have a cabin in the woods and find this is the best way to trap a lot of mice. They leave one of these out when they leave and they don't have any more mice in the house. Here a link to one of the DIY videos.
We have used the sticky traps at work and I've used them in my basement. Last time we saw a mouse at work we set the traps and caught 3. Now we have been mouse free for a while.
I use poison but live on a brook so have not had a problem with the mice dying in the house. The go out for water and I guess die there. I cannot deal with the snap traps since I have had mouse, injured but not killed.
Roaminggnome, I have had friends have cats bring "presents" to the back door, usually already dead. I'm not sure what I'd do if a cat dropped a mouse in my bed. I guess that's why I am a dog person.
