I'm working the box office tonight. A guy just called in to order two tickets for tonight and he's drunk, drunk, drunk. Typically, we require a credit card to place an order over the phone and we do not hold unpaid tickets. But, fearing that this man may pass out before he actually gets here, I told him I'd just hold the tickets here for him and he can pay when he arrives. If he shows up I'll charge him, if not, his card won't be charged.
I am a nice person. But, mostly, I hope that makes up for hitting a chipmunk and a bird on the way to work today.
Sorry your trip to work was a little stressful. I hate hitting wildlife, however, sometimes it just can't be avoided. And think of all the crows and ravens and other scavengers you helped find a meal.
The guy showed up and he was so very drunk. He couldn't walk a staight line for love nor money. He kept asking people if there were monkeys in the show. (No, no monkeys in the show.)
I told him he looked tired and asked if he was going to be able to make it through the show. I think he got my message and decided to head home with his "date." It's a good thing I didn't charge him because we really didn't need him in the theatre passing out or getting sick.
I guess he's started celebrating the 4th of July a little early..
Wow, it's sad he was like that already, or really at all. That was nice of you not to charge him, but you are right, it probably saved everyone a few headaches. Sorry you had a rough time getting to work today. I've hit a bird before, but I hit my first ever squirrel last week and felt bad.
I hope he wasn't the one driving! I haven't hit any wildlife for years, but the horror of the blackbird we had to pry out of my grill and the cat I hit one night just 2 weeks after the bird, still are there - 20 years+ later!! Sorry you had such a traumatic drive.
Huntermom is correct, though - you just helped feed untold numbers of scavengers and bugs!
