I broke my arm when I was 9 and was in a cast for 8 months, yes that's right 8 MONTHS. I was very close to having surgery, but very lucky. My doctors do co-author an article about me for the New England Journal of Medicine.
I've also broken my wrist and 2 fingers on my left hand.
No broken bones, no severe sprains, no major surgeries. Only overnite hospital stays when I had my 2 children. I think I've been pretty lucky in this area. Not so much for dh.

I broke my foot at WDW because I was walking in one direction and looking in another - tripped over a curb. NOT smart. I have to say the WDW CMs did a great job of taking care of me.
Nope. Although I took a flat-out fall a year or so ago and landed all of my considerable weight on my knee. I was really surprised that nothing was broken! Did the same thing onto an elbow when I was in junior-high. Boy, did it take forever for the strains and tears to heal! The doctor even told me it would have healed faster and with less pain had I broken it!
