Your kiddos How did you pick your kid(s) names? Are they family names? Just a name you liked? Kylor was something I just wrote down one day out of the blue and I loved it. His MN, Lamont, is the same as his dads. Jalen was a name I had heard on the radio and loved it. I changed his MN at the last second to Marcus - it was going to be Isaiah throughout the whole pg.

Re: Your kiddos Brooke was a name we heard someplace and just thought it "fit". her middle name Nicole is the same middle name Jordan had. Brooke loves being close to her sister(who she never got to meet) by sharing a middle name. Cody is named after a beloved dog !LOL! When we had Brooke, we had a girls name and a boy's name picked out(Cody was the boys name) After Brooke was born, we got a Japaneese Akita puppy and Troy said he wanted to name him Cody.A few years later, we had Cody the boy and we still loved the name so much that we gave it to the boy!LOL!! Cody's middle name David is in memory of my father. if we had had more children, we would have started naming them after distant family. Seamus would have been the first name; named after a relative of mine. Of course we cant have any more babies, so we named one of our cats Seamus!LOL!!

Re: Your kiddos With the first, my boyfriend got to pick the 1st name for a girl, me the middle, and if it was a boy, it was my pick for 1st, his for middle. Then, the middle name had to be agreed on by the first name person. (we were young and stupid, it sounded good at the time). Patrick Justin turned out to be Samantha Nicole. Samantha is for her father's (not DH) sister (I hate it!) Nicole is the only name I could come up with that he had not dated a girl named that. 2nd- My paternal grandmother's first name and my MiL's middle - was supposed to be totally diff, but MiL died 3 weeks before baby came. (lucked out and the middle is also - MY mom's, My sister's, His sister's and her daughter's, so lots of people think we named her after them!) ![]() 3- Since #2 was named for family, #3 had to be also, but there were no more good names - Eleanor, Mabel, Lottie, Esther were the choices, so, she has Eleanor mixed up to be Lorean, then we spelled it the right way, and my step-mothers middle name

Re: Your kiddos Well, since my situation is a bit different, I will have fun sharing this. We adopted our daughter when she was 11. She, of course, had a name she had had since birth. She did not like her first name, and used her middle name as her first name for years before we came on the scene. When the adoption papers were going through, we allowed her to pick her name. She chose what was her middle name as her first name, and a whole new middle name for herself. Obviously, she had no choice about taking our last name. So, in essence, she named herself. Isn't that cool? Oh, and the middle name she chose is my sister's middle name, as well as her great grandmother's first name. The really neat part to this, is that her first name now is my middle name....Marie!!!! And when I was a kid, I used to like calling myself by my middle name....not because I didn't like my first name (Gail), but because I loved Marie Osmond. Just as an aside, these kids in the "system" have so little that they can choose for themselves, that we thought it a great idea to let her choose her own name. Fun question, Tina!

Re: Your kiddos Fun question! We were watching Random Hearts (the one with Harrison Ford) and his cheating wife's name was Peyton. Chris & I just looked at each other, and both fell in love with it. We did not name our girls until after they were born, but, about 3 weeks before she came out, when I'd talk about her, it was all I could do to not refer to her as Peyton. I just knew this is who she would be. Her middle name is Sue after my mom, cuz she rocks!Ella was much more difficult. I wanted something that felt like it fit with Peyton, but, that was proving to be a challenge. We had several possibilities, but, Chris really wanted her middle name to be Patricia after his mom (only fair, right?!). We had liked the name Ellison (felt it matched Peytie better), but it was too long in my book to go with Patricia (and the hyphenated last name that the girls and I have). Ella, which is a derivative of Eleanor, in a book was defined as All or Complete. This is our last planned child, so we felt that it described what Ella's birth meant to our family. She completes it! ![]()

Re: Your kiddos Back in 1982 when we were thinking of names we both really liked the name "Matthew". It was from the bible and sounded very good with DH's first name as the middle name. I only recall there being one guy in my graduating class with that name and I always liked it. Who knew that EVERYBODY was going to name there kid Matthew!! My own brother and his wife who lived in Florida were expecting their first baby a few months after us had even picked out the name Matthew. They ended up switching the names around and named their son Tyler Matthew instead.

Re: Your kiddos For my boys, all of them have biblical first names and middle names after someone in the family... DS#1 - Thomas James (Thomas because we both could finally agree on a name, and James after my father who died when I was a teen.) DS#2 - Joseph Robert (Joseph because he was born on Christmas Eve, and Robert after both my and DH's uncles who died in, or as a result of, Vietnam. Pure coincidence that they were both named Robert) DS#3 - Samuel John (Samuel, because after Thomas and Joseph, we wanted another biblical name to continue the trend. John because DH, DFIL, DSFIL, DBIL and DGF are all named John) Hopefully, we won't have any more boys, because we are officially out of names! ![]()

Re: Your kiddos This is fun. DD's middle name is Rose, after my paternal grandmother, Rosemary, who died when I was 10. That was my pick then DH and I had to agree on a first name. I wanted Madeline, because I'd heard it somewhere and it just sounded pretty. DH wanted Ainsleigh, after a character on The West Wing. I won in the end and we now have Madeline Rose. DH has already picked the name if we ever have another girl, Ainsleigh Helen, the Helen is after his paternal grandmother.

Re: Your kiddos Our son's name will be Ryan (because I like it!) Douglas (after my Grandfather) His birth name (because I feel it is important to keep the name on his Korean Birth Certificate as part of his history, even though I don't know what it is yet!) Varney. Ryan and Ian were our 2 boys names, Shawn liked Ian and I loved Ryan. I won because I was on the receiving end of all those shots before we decided to adopt!

Re: Your kiddos DH picked out Alexa for our first (if it was a boy, it was to be Nolan, which now I don't like). Not sure where he got it, I think from the baby books. I got to pick her middle name, Katelyn, which I liked. For Colin, I picked that name. I just wanted an English/Irish name. I forget what the girl name for him was supposed to be (how bad). His middle name is DH's first name.

Re: Your kiddos Obviously I don't have them yet....but that's not to say I haven't thought of it! We have a German last name, and one day I was kicking around the idea of giving a German first name to go with it. For a girl I came up with "Wolfgangia" (Wulf-GAHNG-ya) and her nickname could be "Wolfie." And I've always loved the name "Fawn" but I'm afraid that Fawn Hall may have ruined it. But we could call her "Fawnie" and no one would suspect a thing. And then it dawned on me what I was doing: Our pets have human names (Geoff, Neil, Stephanie, Bessey) that we'd be naming our children after animals!!!! Not sure what Freud would say about that, but hey... For boys, I've always loved Adrian/Ade, Ian, Brian, and others I can't recall right now.

Re: Your kiddos Ours are basically all family names... Victoria Christian .....Victoria was my mom's grandmother that she LOVED the most and Christian was my grandmother's surname on my dad's side. We call her Victoria or Toria. Alexandria Marie ......Alexandria was DH's dad's grandmother and Marie is one of DH's cousins. We call her Zandi. Harley Michael Lawton ....Harley is my Dh's name as well as DH's grandfather that he was especially close to, Michael is my dad's name, and Lawton is DH's dad's middle name as well as the surname from DH's dad's mother's family. My Dh has three names as well as his dad....it's kind of a family thing on that side. We call him Lawton. Chloe Angeline .....Chloe Angeline was my grandmother's (on my mom's side) favorite grandmother and aunt. They were twins and from what I understand inseperable. We call her Chloe.

Re: Your kiddos Amanda - thought she was going to be a boy - didn't even have a girl's name picked out - she was baby girl St. Martin for about 4 hours! We decided on Amanda, because it was a classic, and we liked it - it means beloved, and she is! She is Amanda, or Manda - never Mandy! Jennie Lynn - John named her after an old Tom Rush song - she is NEVER to be called Jennifer! Her legal name is Jennie Lynn. Sarah - we had a tough time with her - we wanted a biblical name, with Elizabeth as a middle name. We had picked out Rachel, then her cousin was born 2 weeks before she was, and they named her Rachel! No copycats here! She then was to be Emily or Sarah if she was a girl - once she was born - she was a Sarah!!!
