No matter how you cut it, a fourteen hour drive is a fourteen hour drive! I went to the MOA Passporter Meet (if you get a chance to meet other Passporters, please do it...we had so much fun!) and drove from Ohio to Bloomington in about 14 hours. We had to break it up the first day b/c we had a "3 hour tour" at an historic village on the way. BUT...(and I like Illinois ) Illinois was IMPOSSIBLE to get across. It took us FOUR hours to drive 95 miles with all the traffic and construction. It was like I'd fallen into the Twilight Zone! Sooo...Dad comes up with a better (faster) route to come home, take us south of Chicago, adds about 50 miles, but should cut off a couple of hours with traffic...NOT!!! We still got hung up on the north and south sides of Chicago and didn't get home until 1130 last night! I could drive 14 hours when I was 20, but now that I'm turning 40, ten is more my limit (and the kids limit!) It was a great time, though, and definitely worth the drive!

Re: No matter how you cut it, a fourteen hour drive is a fourteen hour drive! I really don't care to drive any distances at all. I live in a very small town where there's no traffic and everywhere I need to go is within 15 minutes and has been that way for over 20 years. I get really stressed out if I have to highway drive and I HATE merging off ramps into traffic!!! I hate DH's driving with a passion and it gets worse every year! I never thought I would ever get on a plane, but the thought of riding along with him for 18 hours to WDW back in '02 was enough to change my mind. The fear of flying was much less than the fear of driving with him! I actually thanked him for finally getting me to get on a plane!

Re: No matter how you cut it, a fourteen hour drive is a fourteen hour drive! I'm glad you made it home OK ![]() We used to drive to Colorado every year to ski and it took us 12 loooong hours. Some friends of ours meet up with us at DW last March at Spring break. On the way home they said they weren't far from Disney and they got stuck in a traffic jam. It so happened, there was a bunch of college kids in a "madi gras" type atmosphere. He had to tell his young boys to get in the back of the suburban b/c some of the girls were "flashing"
