The worry wort question got me thinking...what is the strangest thing

you've ever worried about?

Last night, I had some really bad stomach cramps and convinced myself that my appendix was going to rupture just as I drifted off to sleep. Then there was the whole Y2K thing that I *finally* opened the last jar of picante sauce from a few weeks ago!

So, what is the weirdest/strangest/most unusual thing that you've ever worried about that never came true?

That is too funny, I sat in bed tearing up watching that thinking "I don't want to have a stroke". I need help!

Re: The worry wort question got me thinking...what is the strangest thing

Believe it or not, I worry about strokes too. Especially because my friend had one at age 25.

ER did not help last night, but I got thru it!

Re: The worry wort question got me thinking...what is the strangest thing

The entire right side of my mother's body was paralyzed (she even had a half-smile) because of a brain tumor--it all started with a seizure that my brothers and I witnessed, and I've been freaking OUT about brains since then. It just freaks me out how something so mushy and gross can control so much.

BUT, my husband's neice was just born a few months ago and had a stroke and some brain problems, and I've been handling them really well, I'm very proud of myself. I think it's because she's so cute and looks just like my DH.

As for worries...last night I dreamt that the next time I fell asleep I would meet my death, and I was all worried and sad about it but NO ONE CARED! I was soooooo glad to wake up from that dream (although it came with palpitations. )

Re: The worry wort question got me thinking...what is the strangest thing

I guess the strangest thing I have worried about is dying in my sleep and no one finding me for a week or two and the cats eatting me.... (too much Bridget Jones, I think).

I worry about my cancer, and stroke (since my sister had one at 27) and heart attack.

Re: The worry wort question got me thinking...what is the strangest thing

All of the above. I almost freaked watching ER, and I kept telling Pat that yes I would want that treatment she had.

I am a worry wart, and think I have diseases all the time. Well, not so much now as when I was younger. I guess I'm to tired to worry as much as I used too.

My brother had a major stroke at age 43, so I always freak when I get a headache or feel "funny". He's still partially paralyzed on his left side. I call Pat all hours of the day to tell him I think somethings wrong with me. He's learned to give me the look and then tells me I'm losing it. When I go in to see my doctor, I always have note cards. I make them for Pat too when he goes.

I worry about heart attack and cancer too. But I have financial worries in the middle of the night too. I can bolt up out of a dead sleep because I worry that it will all go away.

Re: The worry wort question got me thinking...what is the strangest thing

I used to worry about everything when I was little. I have gotten past it, but I do worry about stuff like that when I see ER or other shows like that....Things I can't control tend to bother me.

Melissa: I worry about that too (The gums thing)! Kyle thinks I'm crazy haha. I'll have you show him this post.

Re: The worry wort question got me thinking...what is the strangest thing

Another ER fan here - watched the show and got real concerned with having a stroke. My Daddy died of cardia arrest and I've been on high blood pressure medicine since my early thirties. So having a stroke is not far from my mind.
But the weirdest thing I worry about is drowning in a car.
We live near alot of lakes and rivers, so there is always a chance for going over the side in a wreck. That is why I always get a car with hand-cranked windows. But DH got my last car and it has electric windows!! So everytime I drive near water, I roll the windows down a little. Cold weather or not, those puppies come down about 3 inches.

Lost a friend and coworker a few years ago to an aneurism (sp?) and for months, I worried each time I had a headache.

Re: The worry wort question got me thinking...what is the strangest thing

First, Regina, get one of those little tools you keep in your glove compartment-it has a pointed metal thing and you use it to whack the window if you can't get out of your car underwater. It will break your window.
Second, I almost started getting palpitations just seeing this question. I worry about getting everything! I think my dreams are true so that adds to the problem. I have very strange dreams. Last night I dreamt that my crown(on my tooth, not my head!) fell out into the sink and I spent have the night tossing and turning trying to get that darn thing out of the sink! Today I will run my tongue along my teeth eight thousand times to check for a loose crown! I also think I have every new illness I hear about from a friend or on tv. My mom's had 3 strokes, so that is a worry also.

Me too Rachel, I lost a wonderful cousin to a brain tumor that started out with tiny little twitching in her left leg, then arm...every time I get a twitch I start planning my funeral.
I get irrational fears of loosing my plane tickets or something else vitally important when I travel. I am not usually a obscessive/compulsive person, but when I travel I bet I check for my plane tickets once every 3 seconds. Weird, eh?

Re: The worry wort question got me thinking...what is the strangest thing

OHHH I thought of another one... You don't want to be around me when I cook chicken.. Which is very rare b/c I am very paranoid about it. (Rare for me to cook chicken...not that the chicken is rare ) Anyways.. I have a rule. Anything that touches anything that's near the raw chicken must be washed immediately!!! Nobody's catching a disease on my watch! I knew these 2 girls from college that almost died from having a frosty at Wendy's that had salmonella in it So now I also refuse to eat at Wendy's.
