Chore lists? Do you kids have a chore list? Do you have a chart if you have more than one kid, where they can see what they need to do? I have four kids from 4-13 and am thinking of making a chart where each week the jobs are rotated so no one is stuck always doing the same job. Which right now oldest DS seems to always be feeding the dog, taking out the trash, cleaning up the kitchen, etc. His sister (11) however doesn't do squat! My only problem with this is that oldest DD (11) has softball on Mond. & Thurs. so this would pose a problem. However I put out the idea that they can swap chores between them if need be. I don't think DS will go for this since DD isn't that nice to him that often! Interested in hearing your suggestions/comments on this! TIA Gina

Re: Chore lists? I onyly have 1 DD age 12, but she does have a list of chores she must do. She helps with the cooking during the week so my DH and I pick up some of her chores. She has to unload the dish washer, and either Dh or I will load it up. She also has a rabbit that she must clean every other day. Also if I happen to have to work 7 out 7 days in a week she will clean the cat box. It is also her responsiblity to walk to the dog on weekends. Dh and I walk her during the week. She also has to take out the trash every 3rd or 4th day. Dh and I split the rest of the days between us.

Re: Chore lists? We kind-of, sort-of have a chore chart. Though it's more like "Mom's Wish List" than anything! There are age-appropriate chores that don't change and they're each responsible for their own rooms. The other chores I do mix up and allow them to choose who helps. When older DD isn't home, then younger DS unloads the dishwasher, etc. We have a Mickey chore chart that lists the chores and I use different color stickers for each child. Whoever completed the chore gets their color sticker and the most stickers at the end of the week wins. The current prize has been Disney Dollars as they're saving up for our trip in July! That accomplishes two things - the kids get spending money and chores get done with relatively few complaints!

Re: Chore lists? My DD has a chore list she goes by. It is very simple things like feed/water dog, make her bed, getting her dirty clothes to laundry room, setting out clothes for next day, and keeping her room clean. She also helps DH and I with taking out the garbage cans on trash days. The list really helps her to know what she has done and what still needs to be done. She checks it off as she goes along.

Re: Chore lists? Here is my chore list: Laundry: Robin Dust/Vacuum: Robin Dishes: Robin Cooking: Robin Feed dog & cat: Robin Walk dog: Robin Sorry couldn't resist. The great thing is if I don't want to do any of it no one complains...well except if I forget to feed the cat & dog. They would get mighty upset!
