the noise in the parks makes him really hard to hear...... Also he does give you updates as to ride wait times. However this is not for all rides and isn't very good for this purpose.
While short of Ebay and places like that, you can't purchase a new Pal Mickey, I believe the technology is still in place. Not sure how frequently it is updated or what since we don't own one, but I think you can still bring him to the parks. Perhaps someone who has one and recently used it can comment.
We bought ours off ebay back in 2009 and it still worked for older attractions when we went in 2010 and 2011. We're debating whether to take it along for our upcoming trip or not. I'm not a huge fan of lugging extra stuff to the parks but DD is 3 now and the interactions might keep her entertained while waiting in lines. Then again, so will my phone or the ipod, and those are smaller, lol
We purchased Pal Mickey the summer of 2007. We don't take him to the parks in fear of losing him. He can't be replaced now.
I keep thinking that too but then I argue with myself and say what's the point of having him if I don't let DD enjoy him? (Yes, I argue with myself often, LOL!)
I have one that I bought off eBay a couple of years ago, and in 2010 he worked fine, even to the point that he totally surprised me one day as we approached Epcot - he said "Oh boy! Epcot is my favourite park!". I thought, how does he know where we are?? Amazing.
(Please tell me it's magic and nothing to do with computerised sensors ......)
We have one we bought in 2006 and I had forgotten all about him until I read this. We will need to take him in Feb and see if he still works. The kids are too old now so he will be all mine
