I went up to EPCOT this evening to see Melissa and Andy. Before I met up with them, curiosity got to me, so I walked over from World Showcase to Future World to see what was going on with the wand- and so far not too much. Looked like cranes and prep work, including walling off that side of Spaceship Earth. I know it's hard for some of us- but interesting at any rate, so here are a few pics. We seem to be frequenting EPCOT more than any other park, so I'll post some more pics as things progress.
What...........I heard that it was coming but I guess I didn't realize it was happening that soon!!!!!!!! Do you know when it is suppose to be completed? We are visiting in August and was hoping for one last peek! Bummer!
The crane is still there! Denise (nobodyhome) had posted some pics from her site in another thread from a different day...but seeing the crane twice makes me
I don't think it will look bare at all. I think it's going back to the way it was always meant to be.
I'm one of the sad ones . I'm bummed enough that the ride will be down for our trip next month, now we won't even be able to get one last picture. I'm wondering if it will be completely gone by then or if they'll still be deconstructing?

It wasn't meant to need adornment or anything cheesy like the hand and the wand. It certainly will look AWESOME on it's own without any unnecessary character identification.

It's supposed to be completely dismantled prior to Epcot's 25th birthday, October 1st.
Thanks for posting that pic, Maureen. It put a smile on my face, even though it disappointed others.
I know there are lots of differing opinions on this one, but I hope it is down by the time we get there (September 8). If not by then, then hopefully before we leave on the 17th. I would like to see it in it's "natural" state again.
