Can you all give me some suggestions for things to see / do at DHS with DD? She'll be turning 3 on the trip, and we're debating whether or not it's worth it to go to DHS with her.
I adore Muppets 3-D and the "Honey I Shrunk the Kids" playground is fun. I haven't seen "Little Mermaid" or "Beauty and the Beast" yet, but they might be of interest. There's nothing scary about the "Lights, Motors, Action!" show either and the kids seem to enjoy it. There are lots of characters to visit, too.

All of these are great suggestions. Also there is the Beauty and the Beast show and also Playhouse Disney. As for actual rides, there are none for little ones like at Magic Kingdom. DHS is more about shows. Little Mermaid is fun , but I would suggest with any Theater Show to sit towards the back of the room if you have a young child with you. The in your face closeness is too much for many young kids and even the most gentle themed ( to you & me ) is scary to a little one who can't control their enviorment. Once you find out if they like it you can go in again and sit closer. I have seen too many kids who just were too scared of the closeness to get into it.

DD isn't into The Little Mermaid or Beauty and the Beast. She would like the Playhouse Disney show, though. We just got back from Disney on Ice on Friday, and DD was bored through The Lion King, Lilo and Stitch and The Little Mermaid. She loved Tinkerbell's part in Peter Pan (though the rest of it she could take or leave) and anything with Mickey and pals. I figure that doesn't bode too well for most shows at DHS. Blah! I guess I'll go ahead and skip that park after all. I just think she'd be uninterested in everything. When we go next Oct with DBF and his DD(7) we can hit DHS and I think that maybe by then DD will be more interested in other things.
Thanks for the information though! This will be useful for next fall!
On our Sept trip my youngest had just turned 3 and he is not very brave. At DHS he enjoyed Playhouse Disney live, breakfast at Hollywood & Vine with the Little Einsteins (Leo & June) and JoJo & Goliath, he enjoyed watching the High School Musical pep-rally & meeting characters. My older who was 4 during our trip & loves doing bigger rides had a good time there but the younger one only spent about 1/2 day there.
Abby will be 3 in Jan, her first trip was December of last year. She has a ball at DHS, especially at the Honey I Shrunk the Kids playground. She has sat through Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Muppetts, LMA, and Playhouse Disney and has thoroughly enjoyed them all.
As soon as we hit the gates she's asking to see Handy Manny or JoJo, we have pictures of her greeting both. Little Einsteins are also available at Playhouse Disney meet-n-greet area.
It's not one of our most favorite parks, except for RnRC and TOT for Jan and the junkies, but we make it a point to hit it every time we go for those little things Abby likes. We don't always get to do the shows, but she has fun and that's what I'm after...
And there's much more for her to do there than at EPCOT, which is our favorite park.....

This park has been so much fun for us I think there is plenty to do for her age group: Toy Story Mania is AWESOME! Just send someone ahead to grab FP EARLY!! I was designated FP getter while the others slept in. It was soooo worth it!! My DD went to this park at 2yrs. also and had a wonderful time. Muppets 3-D Honey I Shrunk the Kids playground Lights Motors Action Little mermaid Fantasmic Even The Great Movie Ride was fun for her at 2. We just told her about the Alien part, we held her and hid her eyes for that entire part. She was fine and it kind of backfired b/c she was curious to see the monster after that. We finally let her see this part this year (6yrs old now) LOL Playhouse Disney is wonderful and the dance party at night is sooo much fun for everyone, my 12 year old even gets into the magic here. CS at Pizza Planet is a FUN lunch with the icons and all. When she was too young to ride Star Tours she had fun hanging with one of us outside this ride and in the gift shop. We did take her through the line so she could see R2D2 and C3PO, then did the ride swap thing. There are so many meet and greet opportunities here as well. The photo ops in this park are some of the best, in my opinion. I wouldn't skip it, but that is just me.
Ds' (2yo at the time) favorite attraction out of all of WDW is Muppetvision 3D. I think we saw it four or five times over our nine day stay (most times right after each other). He loved it so much he cried when we had to give back the glasses!!
I wouldn't skip it at all. It's my kids' favorite park - we never thought when they were younger that we should skip something just because they weren't into it.
Give her a chance - unless it's more like you don't want to go. BUT - I have to warn you - you'll be missing a wonderful time!
